Start of Spring Festival

Hosted by the village of Westford during the first week of Quen, running for 3 days. It's a small festival, comprised of a large market of local goods, live music and magic, and games for young ones. At night there are dances, usually in front of the old tower, often these include courtship ceremonies and it's not unheard of for there to be multiple marriage proposals during the evening.

History

Westfords Spring Festival started in 360 with the first invasion of the Lordless Lands. Westford had a tower built, and was used as a military post for the 2 years of war. During this time, spring was celebrated - the end of Thaw and Winter was exciting for the soldiers who no longer had to war in terrible conditions. This started with the soldiers coming to Westford to celebrate and drink, leading to locals setting up shops for them to visit. This grew in the next year, with the mayor hiring live bands and putting on a dance in the evening.    This tradition would continue well over a hundred years.

Execution

Westford sets up a large tent market outside its old outpost tower, allowing locals to sell goods they've created over the Winter and Thaw, and letting outsiders come in to sell things like art and food. At the end of the first day, the highest ranking member of Requiem to make a speech (usually the Lord of the Hills, though on occasion a prince or monarch may attend) while on the last day the mayor is a make a speech. Each night is ended with a dance that lasts long into the night.
