The Crystarium

The Crystarium is an organisation based in the city of Respite that is dedicated to higher learning and esoteric research. It is divided into different departments, each overseeing a different school of magic, as well as municipal departments responsible for maintaining Respite and the surrounding area.
Each department had an Imir (Steward), but owing to the competitive nature of the different departments, they developed informal names for the department heads based on the names given to the pieces used in a game of "Queen's Gambit" (itself an archaeological find of the city, presumed to be a defunct game that eventually became "Dragonchess" as it is known today). They are as follows:
