Humans
A Numerous People
Humans are the most widespread of all races and the first to lay claim on the lands of Aethar. While they were once small tribes warring against each other for land they've now grown into the most dominant race building great cities to immortalize their legacy. These cities are placed all the way from the frozen tundra's of the north to the scorching deserts of the southern most regions.
The Unification
Before The Great Assimilation there were various small human tribes each lead by a warlord trying to wrestle control of the land away from the other tribes. Though after The Great Assimilation shock the whole world and the human warlords realized that something greater had appeared they realized they needed to form alliances to survive the new threats brought to the world. Thus began the Unification also called the purge, where the human warlords after having united marched upon the elves and dwarves before they could react in time. And after fighting countless battles against hopeless opposition, they settled down after having carved themselves a place back into the realm. Stumbling upon a valley in their time where rivers and ponds were a plenty, they began to build their great unified kingdom. During this time the humans also began learning about magic from captured elves. Not satiated with only watching it unfold they began forcing information out of the elves, to make them reveal their secrets. Along with magic and the ways to use it the humans also discovered the gods, and the power they could grant to their followers.
The Fall of The Great Kingdom
After having seemingly exterminated any threat to their safety and having build a great kingdom, the warlords began to turn on each other each wishing to claim the High Throne, which would later become the Imperial Throne of The Mithil Empire, for themselves. This Era of human history, also known as the Era of Division, resulted in even more carnage than the Unification as many cities were burnt to the ground and allies stabbing each other in the back. This resulted in the disintegration of the human kingdoms scattering them into various fractious kingdoms. This era considerably weakened the humans allowing the other races to claim some sort of foothold in this new world.
