The Chastelian Provinces

Nervously awaiting its time the Chastelian Provinces is a place for joyous festivities during the day, and begging to their divine seraphs when night falls upon it. They are plagued by fiends and creatures of the night, forcing their hand with letting The Ruby Knights slaughter their way through the streets when night falls. Each day farmers quickly ensure that their business is concluded before they are forced inside, along with hoping that the knights be merciful that night. The folks who dwell there live in fear of the night but enjoy the life they were spared. In the provinces only the hardy and those with the constitution for death survive though the many blood soaked nights.   Landscape

Structure

The Chastelian Provinces rely on a patron client system where those of high standing has clients to whom they offer protection and security of live, while they give their patron their support in their endeavors military and buisness. People can be both clients and patrons at once where they can rely on their clients to do some of the the things their patron needs to have done. The one sitting on top of all of this is the Reina who has her clients as the leaders of the major cities who have many of their nobles as their clients, with the whole system going down into all of the peasants.

Culture

The Chastelians value life and living every day to its fullest where they party and enjoy themselves during the daylight hours, and hide within their houses as soon as night falls to the streets. They also have a strong sense of community with neighbors often helping out each other whenever they are needed, though this friendship does not extend to strangers and they often see strangers as suspicious and ones to come their lands seeing them as bringers of death. This stems from the superstitious nature of the Chastelians who have believes such as: scorning the number five, grabbing both hands when shaking someone's hands, always tapping their shoe to the door of an abode before entering and never praying at night. Another important part of their culture is their relationship with wealth, as it is seen as important and a symbol of status, the reason being that wealthy patrons will be able to supply the needs of their clients. Wealth is shown off as much as possible with rich people often wearing pieces of valuable metal woven into their clothes, and owning land is also a signifier of status and wealth especially if the land is placed within the mountains, where some of the richest own vineyards up in these mountain areas as the mountains shelter the delicate grapes allowing them to ripen in the correct manners.

History

In the beginning the Chastelian Provinces was just the three areas of three warlords who had fled from the crumbling Great Human Kingdom and established themselves as the rulers of each of their domains. It did not take many years for the warlords to bicker amongst themselves, as their supplies began to dwindle from the many fiend attacks and they grew so desperate war broke out amongst the three. Eventually one of them won and conquered the lands of the other two warlords taking the land and creating a new state that was named the Unificanda and established themselves as the new leader.
