Desert Star
The desert star is a strange object, consisting out of seeminly naturally grown crystal, completely lacking in any toolmarks. This is at a stark contrast with the strange spiked shape of the crystal, as well as the elongated points sticking out of the aether filled center, both are highly uncommon features for crystal, in particularly aether laced crystal. It has a strong fate based connection with a group of adventurers that derived their groupname from this strange object
Creation
Items like the desert star have a long history with the Eada'atlal who believe them to be "the will of the god" in some cases, with more moderate adherents of the faith seeing them more as beacons to guide travelers of the path to reach their destination. While the theological implications of their purpose are widely debated amongst the sungazers, there is near-unanimous agreement regarding their creation. An individual or a group most overcome great hardships, and the desert will sometimes award those that have surpassed themselves with an object like this. Although the exact shape, size and potency vary, the method of their creation is fixed and all of these objects have a strong divination essence often tied to fate and prophecy.Capabilities
Only those that are tied by fate to this object and the other bearers can activate the object, and doing so activates the object for all those that are tied to it. In the case of the Desert Star it allows those tied to it to catch glimpses of faraway occurrences, sometimes crossing temporal boundaries as well. One of the major downsides of this item is that only locations or people that those fate tied to it have ever observed themselves are visible. Non-magical objects which have not been observed are vaguely visible and have only a misty shifting outline, magical objects are somewhat clearer depending on their potency. On at least one occasion the Desert Star has revealed pre-Aether visions to the fellowship, something which is (nearly) impossible to achieve with regular divination magics and spells.
Usage in heraldry
Amongst the Eada'atlal it is quite common for those blessed with such an object to depict the item on their personal insignias or heraldry. In a sense the same has happened for the Fellowship of the desert star, whose Gamblers coin bears a depiction of a seven-pointed star.
