Sha'ben'non

A house considered to have its head in the clouds and seen as overly theoretical by others, despite this reputation being undeserved seeing many of its scions are distinguished field medics and archeologists who don't mind getting their hands dirty. The house is quite fragmented and plagued by internal rivalries, but remains one of the great houses despite this.

History

The house of Sha'ben'non didn't originate from a single family as the others did, but instead is a combination of several smaller notable intellectual families that banded together after the great cataclysm. This has made the house less homogenous than the others and has certainly contributed to the many small rivalries and schisms that are so characteristic for the house. Of course, postulating grand theories that stand up to the test of time is besides a great status improvement for those that pull it off, but also a clear invitation for ones rivals to break them down. Together with the already fragmented nature of the house, these rivalries start out as purely academic disputes only to later escalate into larger disputes. What binds the house together is their unending search for truth and understanding, even if one has to step on a distant cousin to get at it. Squabbling over matters that outsiders would consider rote and minute details is seen as the heart of scholarly and academic work by members of the house.

Organisation

The house is strongly represented in the two universities of sha'geah, but has no formal base of operations. However, their influence and involvement in the universities is extensive and spans all levels of the universities. They also have strong connections with the international academic communities as a whole and have many contacts with other nations with a large and well-developed intellectual community, such as Celendra and Albeon.

Customs

The house takes the ritual of accepting youg wards as students from other houses very seriously, much more so than the other houses do. Where the other houses sometimes neglect their young wards, or use them for menial or unimportant tasks, this is considered rude and insulting by house Sha'ben'non. A successful student brings prestige to the teacher.
