The cutthroat

One of the ships whose captain sits on the Council of captains . The ship is considered to be one of the "easier" paths of becoming a member of the council of captains. Easy in the fact that it's easy to obtain, not to actually keep. Its grisly history of betrayal, mutiny, and downright slaughter of its captain and senior crew has left only the most ambitious, ruthless, or downright desperate crewmembers signing up for the crew manifesto of the cutthroat.

Current state

The ship in a severe state of disrepair and while technically seaworthy, anything but the calmest weathers are likely to pull the ship and its crew to a wattery grave. Many holes puncture its hull and various bright discolorations from alchemical weapons dot the deck. The rigging is an affront to seamanship as a profession.

History

The first captain of the keelhaul was a bastard child of the legendary pirate captain turned merchant prince Johnatan "Murkwatter" Calleers. His murder by the hands of the cutthroats crew started the long and bloody tradition of captains being killed aboard this ship. According to the legends, the crew was somewhat shoddy in getting rid of the body of their paranoid captain. Allegedly this captain shared his family's talent for necromancy, apparently having bound his life-force to this ship, turning it into his phylactery. Being haunted by this vengeful spirit, the stories differ quite a lot on what happened next.
According to some the betrayed captain still roams the decks of the ship, the figurehead coming alive to kill its crew using the very saber that ended its life, now lodged in the figurehead's neck. Other versions of the story have the crew hiring a group of Godseeker priests to get rid of the haunting who used the saber to damage the figurehead in order to lay the spirit to rest. Whatever the truth, the clearly magical saber is still lodged in the figurehead's neck occasionally leaking a thick viscous red liquid from the wound in the wooden statue.

Recent history

The brazen attack of the Moshabarian first, during their first break out attempt, left the crew of the cutthroat completely unprepared. Severely damaged in the attack, the few surviving crew managed to limp to one of the jagged islands in the Shadowright bay. The remaining members of the crew, those not killed by the many chemicals sloshing around on its decks after the assault or by deprivation were picked off by a coven of hags native to the island. The hags took the mast and rudder and turned it into a corrupted effigy on the highest cliff peak of the island. After being dealt with by the crew of the leech and the Fellowship of the desert star, the cutthroat was repaired and possession transferred to the fellowship. Helene Falk has declared herself captain of the cutthroat and by doing so, claimed a seat on the A council of captains Report .
