The Primordial Conflict was a conflict between the four mortals of legend and the
Titans of the
Aether who ruled over the world. Called "The Primordial Conflict" by scholars due to it being the first conflict of free mortals and creating civilization as it is known today. It is also known as the "Titan War" or "The Big Clash" to others. After the victory, the four mortals became known as The Titanslayers.
The Conflict
Prelude
Long before the dawn of civilization in Aetheria, the land was ruled by powerful beings known as Titans. These Titans were mighty beings who controlled the elements of nature and the powers of the Aether. The Titans were feared and worshipped by the mortal races, which had little hope of ever breaking free from their control.
Twelve extraordinary mortals, who were gifted with incredible powers over the Aether, rose to rid the world of the Titans. These mortals became known as The Arcanist, The Artificer, The Alchemist, and The Archdruid. Together, these four mortals formed an alliance to take down the Titans and free the mortal races from their oppressive rule. Each of the four mortals had their own unique powers and abilities, which they used in tandem to defeat the Titans.
The four mortals knew that they could not defeat the Titans individually, so they decided to combine their powers and create a powerful weapon that could slay them. The Alchemist spent years researching and experimenting, trying to find the perfect way to merge their abilities. Eventually, they discovered that by channeling the powers of nature through The Archdruid and the powers of the aether through The Arcanist and channeling them into a single object, they could create an unstoppable force. The Artificer invented a way to deliver that concentrated power through a reloadable weapon and cases that stored the accumulated magical energy. Once the weapon was complete, they tested it on a small scale to make sure it was stable and effective. They then prepared for the final battle against the Titans, knowing that their lives and the fate of the world hung in the balance.
The four fought the Titans on the Plains of Eternity, a vast and desolate expanse of flat land with no trees, few hills and other natural features. The ground was made of a dark and hard volcanic rock that seems to absorb light. The sky was gray and cloudy, with no sun or stars visible. The battlefield was surrounded by sheer cliffs that rose up on all sides, preventing any escape. It is said that the Plains of Eternity were created by The Arcanist to attract the Titans, act as a battleground and later act as a tomb for the Titans. The weapon was placed at a rockline at the base of the cliff, partially hidden by the jagged cliff face and surrounded by three layers of strong protective wards.
When the Titans arrived to the Plains, The four mortals wasted no time. The Arcanist and The Archdruid began charging the casings while The Alchemist loaded the weapon and The Artificer aimed it. The casings grew more powerful with each passing moment then it was loaded. The first shot disintegrated one of the Titans where it stood. The Titans were taken aback by the sheer force of the weapon, but they charged with all their might. Before they could reach the weapon, the second shot erased another Titan. By the time they reached the weapon, it had been reloaded and vaporized a third Titan. As the remaining two pounded against weakening wards, another shot returned the fourth Titan to the aether river. When the final ward fell, The mortals fired their last round prematurely into the chest of the last Titan, causing it to stumble back and fall. Its essence flowing out of the wound and into the soil. When the aether left its eyes, the clouds parted, and the Titanslayers sealed the tomb.
Upon exiting the Plains, The Arcanist sealed the battleground and The Archdruid formed a mountain on top of it as a lasting monument to the conflict. It serves as a warning to future generations about the danger of unchecked power and as a beacon for mortals, showing them that they can forge their own destiny. By entombing the corpse of the last Titan in the Plains of Eternity and forming a mountain on top of them, they ensured that the memory of that day would be preserved for all time.
In the aftermath of the Titan War, the four mortals scattered across Aetheria. As others settled near each of the Titanslayers, they would go on to found their own societies and cultures that would shape Aetheria's future. Each culture was named after the mortal they were close to. Those cultures would go on to develop their own unique traditions, beliefs, and technologies. The descendants of these four mortals would continue to shape the world of Aetheria for centuries to come, leaving an indelible mark on the land and its people.
Historical Significance
It is unknown what became of the weapon they forged. Some say that the weapon was left in the tomb as it had served its purpose. Others say that the weapons was disassembled and scattered across the world by the Titanslayers so that no mortal could reassemble that power. The legends of the Titan slaying weapon has inspired many throughout the ages to combine the aether with the forge.
