Aevorean Minotaur

Aevorean minotaurs typically live in tribes, although a few live in the cities of other races. There are many differences between different minotaur tribes, but there are some things which are the same, or at least similar, among almost all minotaur tribes. These things are what this article covers.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

Aevorean minotaurs tend to be extremely warlike, and hierarchy in their tribes tends to be based on martial prowess. Because of this, as well as the fact that they are generally distrusted due to their status as demons, many minotaur tribes turn to banditry.   Minotaur tribes tend to be hostile towards non-minotaurs, with the exception of Humans because of their shared status as outcasts.   Hunting is quite popular among minotaur tribes, but for different reasons than most other cultures. Minotaurs, being herbivorous, do not hunt for food. Their goals in hunting are to harvest materials such as leather, bones, claws, horns, etc., and to improve their combat skills. Because of this, they only hunt dangerous predators, and they typically leave the meat behind, unless there are Humans in the tribe, in which case some of it will be taken with. A side effect of this is that scavengers such as vultures and crows tend to congregate around minotaur tribes.

Common Dress code

Minotaur-made clothing and armor is typically made of leather, and their weapons are typically made of wood, stone, and bone. Things made from textiles and metal are used when they can get them. These are usually obtained from their enemies' corpses, although there are a few merchants that will deal with them.

Art & Architecture

Minotaur buildings tend to be made of wood, mud, plant material, and occasionally leather.

Coming of Age Rites

Minotaurs are considered to be of age when they are capable of beating one of their parents in a duel. When this occurs, it is typically celebrated with a tribe-wide feast, accompanied by gifts. Subsequent celebrations, which occur annually, are celebrated in the same way but are only attended by the individual's family and close friends.

Common Taboos

Cowardice is disdained among minotaurs more than anything else, to the point that, when attacked, tribes will often fight until they either win or are completely wiped out. However, when they are attacking, they will not refuse to flee (if they deem it necessary), since pointless suicide is considered a form of cowardice. Contrary to what many of other races believe, it is not considered cowardly for minotaurs to use ranged weapons such as bows or slings, nor do they look down upon ambush tactics.   It is also looked down upon for minotaurs to neglect their physical health or their combat training.

Ideals

Gender Ideals
