Dryad

Dryads are magical beings who are connected to nature, with an affinity for forests.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dryads are humanoid, but their hair has the texture of leaves. Dryads have the ability to harden their skin so that it is like wood, with the exterior taking on a somewhat bark-like appearance. In addition, dryads have a natural connection to Nature Magic, with a proficiency for magic relating to plants and, to a lesser extent, animals.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dryads reproduce sexually and are viviparous. Their gestation period is seventeen months. It should be noted that conception is significantly rarer among dryads than most other races, and that it can only occur during spring or summer.

Ecology and Habitats

The majority of dryads live in forests, but some can be found in villages or even cities, more so now than in the past, since there are fewer forests than there used to be. It is quite common for dryads in cities to decorate the interiors (and occasionally the exteriors) of their homes to be more reminiscent of forests.

Biological Cycle

In the autumn and winter, dryads become somewhat lethargic, more prone to illness, and unable to conceive children. In addition, the color of their skin changes gradually from green to orange or red.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Most dryads are found in forests. Of these forests, the Great Forest houses the greatest number of dryads.

Dryads have an above-average sense of smell and are otherwise average.
