013: Tracking the Book

General Summary

The group continued their investigation into the Necronomicon. Tracking the girl's school uniform back to the @aurora they attempted to bluff their way past the clerk but were only able to gain agreement for a later appointment.
Rebuffed they returned to Major Crimes Division to shake a percieved tail by CorSec. Then continued their investigation online. Kei was able to con the names of the students on the field trip from their professor. They were then able to determine the one using the book had to be Madison Brenner. Upon realisation of who the girl was the group began contemplating how MacroTech might be involved.
They decided to visit Dr. Brenner's apartment in Uptown. They spoke with a greiving and apparently medicated Mrs. Brenner and were able to surreptitiously investigate her daughters room where they found a locked chest containing a notebook that radiated magical power. When Artemis removed the book she tripped a magical ward and was ensnared by an arcane trap. She was able to extricate herself with the help of Rosabelle and then successfully disarmed the ward and removed the book. Replacing it with another notebook which she enchanted to appear as the original.
