Imperium through the Era

The Imperium of Man long history starts from humble beginnings on Terra during the Unification Wars, its liberation of the Sol system and then the wider galaxy and onwards to the modern era of the 42 millennia. through this time the organization has grown and changed. below are article exploring the various organization, individuals and events of the given era.

Age of Strife

The man who would later become known as the Emperor first appeared openly as one of the many warlords struggling for control of Terra during the latter part of the Age of Strife. He was at this point just another Terran warlord, but he met Malcador who convinced him to take the title of Emperor. He was once known as the Master of the Lines in a mountainous region of Terra. There he would seek out individuals whose genetics he could use in his Thunder Warrior project, as well as offer services of gene-editing the offspring children in the region to correct genetic mutations. It was during this time he met Amar Astarte, who he and Erda worked closely with on the Primarch Project. He also met Ezekiel Sedayne, who would later develop the Black Carapace for the successors of the Thunder Warriors: The Legio Astartes.

Unification Era

Appearing openly for the first time, The Emperor led his Thunder Warriors, genetically engineered super soldiers created in secret laboratories, in a series of campaigns against all other warlords and Techno-barbarians of Old Earth. His forces included not only the Thunder Warriors but also the Custodian Guard, formations that would become the early Imperial Army including Geno Five-Two Chiliad and the Inferallti Hussars, and eventually the proto-Astartes. His forces utilized the advanced weapons of the Terrawatt Clan after he secured an alliance with them. Thus did the Emperor make his move on the major powers of Terra. One of his earliest major campaigns was against the Maulland Sen Confederacy.

Solar Reclamation

Near the end of Terra total capitulation to the Imperium of Man, the Solar Reclamation was launched to bring the rest of the Sol System into the Imperium.   After purging the Thunder Warriors and replacing them with these more efficient warriors, The Emperor led the Space Marines into the reconquest of the Sol System. He drove Xenos enslavers from the moons of Saturn and Jupiter and most importantly, achieved peace and eventual integration with the Mechanicum of Mars. This alliance provided the Emperor with much of the means and materiel to extend his crusade into the stars.

Great Crusade

After the Fall of the Eldar blow away the warp storms surrounding Sol and the broader galaxy, the Imperium lanch a massive expansion into the galaxy to unite Humanity into one unified empire.

Organization:

Governance: Dictatorships during the early years of the Unification wars, Imperial Constitution in the Golden Age of Imperium, Theocratic Authoritarian Administration by modern era   The original High Lords were bureacrats of the Emperor who followed in his armies wake during the Unification Wars to build the foundations of his new empire. These earliest bueracrats were known as the Magisters Temporal, and as the Emperor's realm expanded were reorganized into the Lords Civilian. The four greatest Lords Civilian became known as the High Lords Civilian. The four original High Lords were the Master of the Administratum, Chancellor of the Estate Imperium, Grand Provost Marshal, and the Lord Commander Militant of the Imperial Armies.   Following the Unification Wars and the commencement of the Great Crusade, the High Lords served on the Council of Terra. These consisted of key individuals to the Emperor's rule and was originally staffed by the Fabricator-General of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Paternova of the Navis Nobilite, the Master of the Astra Telepathica, and Regent Malcador the Sigillite. Military matters were outside of the jurisdiction of this council, instead vested in Warmaster Horus.   https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Council_of_Terra       Manufactured capabilities: Able to make and slightly alter technology and equipment based on STC   Technology Level: the Imperium standard of Technology is that of STC standards   Demographics: the imperium of man is a galactic speciesist Human government that is comprised of primarily members of the Human species. With the base line of Homo-sapien making the vast majority of the populase, there are other human subraces such as Squats, ratlings and Ogyrens to name a few.   There are some rare alien or mutant protectorates under the domain of the Imperium but by the time of the 42 millennium, these protectorates are all but gone.

Beliefs systems:

Imperial Truth   The Imperial Truth was a doctrine preached by the Imperium of Man during the years of the Great Crusade.   The contents of this belief involved the removal of religion, faith and superstition that plagued numerous Human worlds that had been recontacted by Terra. Instead, the Imperial Truth was offered by Iterators that provided the cold clarity of logic and science to the masses. Other key aspects of the Imperial Truth was the manifest destiny of mankind to rule the stars, the exceptionalism of humanity, and the danger posed by all xenos. As part of his campaign to spread the Imperial truth, the Emperor's Thunder Warriors destroyed all churches on Terra, believing it to be necessary to have humanity accept science and reason over superstition and barbarism. In truth, the Emperor sought to wipe out superstition and religion as they were easy doors from which the powers of Chaos entered the minds of men.   The Imperial Truth began to disintegrate due to the Horus Heresy and encounters with the Dark Powers of the Warp. Many either turned Traitor as a result or embraced the growing Lectitio Divinitatus which proclaimed that the Emperor was a god.
