Ursh Empire
===Ursh Empire===
Name: Ursh
Alternate names: The Empire of Ursh.
Brief Summary of the faction:
The Ursh flourished during the Age of Strife. Its forces, led by the tyrant Kalagann conquest many pre-Imperial nations, including the Nordafrik Conclaves where they destroyed the paradise oases of Xozer, nomadic catterpilar cities of the Taiga and other nations of old Terra, but were ultimately defeated by the Emperor of Mankind during the Unification Wars. - Horus Rising (Novel), Part Two, Chapter Six
Leader(S): Kalagann
Leader Titles: “Great Ataman of Ursh”
"Kalagann was the guard captain of the Ursh tribe based in the then-village Magog. The chief he served was an honourable man who cared about his tribe’s wellbeing and was responsible for successfully cultivating and irrigating the tribe’s surrounding land using hydroponics technology purchased from a travelling merchant. However, the agrarian project caught the eye of jealous rival tribes, which would raid Ursh for food and slaves. After several years of failing to address the raiding problem, Kalagann killed the chief during the chaos of battle and took control of the tribe as the guard was loyal to Kalagann, not the chief. Kalagann then set his sights on the nearby tribes and enslaved them. This slave labour fed and equipped his army, allowing his tribe to focus on warfare. To each tribe he encountered next, they would be treated based on whether they voluntarily submitted or not. Submission meant sending tribute (food, weapons, soldiers, etc.), while refusal meant decimation and enslavement. Wise enough to know when to use the carrot or the stick when handling social disputes, and strategically inclined to know where, when, and how to attack, Kalagann has all of the traits required to become more than just a regional warlord."
Territory or area of operation:
The Ursh Empire comprises much of northern and central Asia. Baykal, Kimchka, Irkutsk
Capital(s): Magog
Founding date: unknown
Dissolution Date: ca.30M
Governance: Tribal Empire
Beliefs System:
The Chronicles of Ursh mentions primordial gods, and especially the Oneirocriticks and Wrathsingers speak of the influence of the ruinous powers. Also, Kalagann's sorcerous powers formed the main part of Ursh's might. So it is highly possible that the Chaos Gods were the true lords of Ursh, and Kalagann being their marionette.

Military Groups
- The Roma - The Roma were organised mercenary fliers who fought for the forces of Ursh. Highly-skilled pilots, they were said to never touch the earth beneath them. They were trained to carry out pinpoint aerial attacks, and were therefore of great value to the generals of Ursh.
- The Red Engines - Both the Red Engines and the Tupelov Lancers followed the command of the warlord Sheng Khal. The Red Engines were masters of the siege, and possessed siege engines able to raze whole fortresses or hive cities to the ground.
- The Tupelov Lancers - The Lancers are described as screaming berserkers. These warriors were trained for close-combat action, and proved ruthless and deadly. In many ways they were a model for the later tactics of the World Eaters Legion of Space Marines.
- Oneirocriticks - The Oneirocriticks were the personal counsellors of the Ursh warlord Sheng Khal. Their name means "interpreters of dreams," in the ancient Urshian dialect of Low Gothic, but it is likely that they used some kind of Warp sorcery to guide Shang Khal in his actions.
- Wrathsingers - This specialised unit was likely comprised of practitioners of sorcery that bent the powers of the Warp to their will. They were able to use their psychic abilities or "magic" as the Chronicles of Ursh names their abilities, to change the environment to their advantage or to kill men from afar with their "spells."
Notable people:
Kalagann - a great overlord and conqueror Lurtois - one of the great generals of Kalagann. First General of the Infantry. It was one of the rare occasions on which he wore neither mask nor helmet, showing the maze of scars that disfigured most of his head. Even though he still held the rank of First General, his infantry had not been able to replicate the success of Shang Khal’s warmachines, so Lurtois had been firmly asked to cross the parade ground after the Master of Engines. Shang Khal - one of the great generals of Kalagann. Master of Engines, his hulking frame even more exaggerated by his unwieldy left arm, a bionic. He disliked parades like this, but Kalagann had ordered the attendance of all the great Generals as a show of strength, and so Shang Khal had obeyed. Quallodon - one of the great generals of Kalagann. The Great Orchestrator, General of Ursh, conniving sycophant, orchestrator of great atrocities, fancying himself the military equal to Lurtois. Tall, lithe and well-groomed, he seemed out of place behind the two brutish Generals who had come before him, but the crowd cheered him nonetheless, albeit more out of fear than respect. Palvoda - Chosen Of The Great Ataman, General of Ursh, Palvoda. Even more so than Quallodon he looked like a member of the rank-and-file instead of a commander. Palvoda had not built much of his own legacy and the noise of the crowd dimmed significantly where he passed. Only those who had served with or under him could appreciate this quiet man’s mental ability for strategy and war. Anult Keyser - lord martial of the Tupelov Lancers forces Wilhym Mardol - loyal lieutenant of Anult Keyser. During the destroying of Xozer was possessed by Daemon and slain his former commander Mafeo Orde - leader of the wrathsingers forces, who played a decisive role in the destruction of Xozer's hierophants daemons summonersHistory:
History in Brief
The Ursh flourished during the Age of Strife. Its forces, led by the tyrant Kalagann conquest many pre-Imperial nations, including the Nordafrik Conclaves where they destroyed the paradise oases of Xozer, nomadic catterpilar cities of the Taiga and other nations of old Terra, but were ultimately defeated by the Emperor of Mankind during the Unification Wars. Ursh history was oftenen excessively bloody. Long-forgotten cities were routinely sacked, or burned, or simply evaporated in nuclear storms. Seas were regularly stained with blood, skies with ash, and landscapes were often carpeted with the bleached and numberless bones of the conquered. When armies marched, they marched a billion strong, the ragged banners of a million standards swaying above their heads in the atomic winds. The battles were stupendous maelstroms of blades and spiked black helms and baying horns, lit by the fires of cannons and burners. The despot Kalagann was celebrated for his cruel practices and equally cruel character. According to the legends, some of these terrible wars made the seas run red with blood, and rent the sky with "forgottyn magiks," and "daeymons most foul woulde prowle the earth and tear the land asunder."
