Equinox of the Firefly Elm Oasis of the Valley of Mirrors (a.k.a. Equinox, Nox)
Nox's Story
Nox is descended from a company of archers from the nomadic fehlar tribe native to the
Firefly Elm Oasis. His people and predecessors roam the region of stepped savanna around the oasis known as the
Valley of Mirrors. Though foreign visitors to the valley are rare, one such outsider captured Nox' attention with his talk about the great and large world.
The young fehlar was always intrigued by the tales of delight and wonder so he plied the visitor for these. He even traded with the foreigner. His prize was a patch of fur the visitor claimed belonged to a fantastic creature he called the Abominable Snow Giant. He called him "Yeti". It was his interest in finding this creature that compelled Nox to leave the valley.
Enchanted by stories of the larger world, Equinox left his homeland and made his way to the Tetsu no Oku and eventually earned passage aboard a merchant ship headed west. As fate would have it, it was a journey to a far-off continent and this brought Nox to
Tasserania. Eventually, he made his way overland to
Suzerain where he hopes to continue his search for knowledge of the mystical creature he pursues.
Nox's Description and Mannerisms
Equinox is a bit on the tall and lanky side for a a fehlar-ter, standing well more than six feet in height but weighing less than 200 lbs. Other than this one variation from others of his ancestry, Nox very much looks the part. His body is covered in the typical, yellow to brown fur, darker along his backside than the front, covered with the rosettes distinctive of most of his kind. He foregoes the use of shoes that are commonplace in large settlements that his people are not accustomed to. This allows him to keep his preternatural claws available for use. And use them he does as Nox favors the advantages in moving around enclosed spaces that they give him.
In fights, Equinox is a handful to deal with. He uses his exceptional mobility to move around the field shooting his targets full of arrows and his magic to enhance the damage the missiles do. He does have a tendency for single-mindedness that sometimes gets him in trouble, a fact that his allies usually bemoan. But his effectiveness always tends to get him out of the trouble his stubbornness gets him into.
