Rudrick Eldesreld
Rudrick was one of the identical twin sons of Dravan the Second, King of Eldessar. Because of the extraordinarily suspicious circumstances of their birth, it was never known which of the twin newborns was older. This uncertainty lead to a lifetime of bickering over which of them was entitled to their birthright.
King Dravan rued the pettiness of his sons as they grew into adulthood. He feared their rivalry could be the undoing of the kingdom were he to choose one or the other to succeed him. Instead, he chose neither, prompting the creation of the Eldess Schism and ultimately, the War of the Eldess.
Both Rudrick and Kregg raised armies following their father's death with intent to claiming the throne for themselves. What they didn't expect was that their cousin Branner, the man their father had named his successor, would do the same. The ensuing civil war broke the kingdom of Eldessar in two. Only Kregg's death ultimately muted Rudrick's taste for the fight. A couple of years after his brother's demise, Rudrick sued for peace, which his cousin agreed to.
Following the War of the Eldess, Rudrick returned to the eastern half of the kingdom, over which he had been named Regent by his father a decade and a half earlier. There he claimed his own throne and would eventually become the first monarch of the Second Kingdom of Eldessar.
