Geffery Pfeiffer

Born to unknown parents, Geffery began his life as an orphan in Ril'ar, a wayside trading post of a village in the Duchy of Faysea.   From a young age, and being a halfling, Geffery was the smallest of his peers in his orphanage, the "Tree of Life Orphan Home". Constantly made fun of and bullied, Geffery was quite reclusive and shy in his early years. Passersby would often disregard him as mute, and he was left to his introverted devices. However, coming into early adolescence, he began to make friends and leave his shell. These events culminated when the orphans were playing in the town. Coming through town was a trading caravan and an object was seen falling off one of the rear carts. Always a curious child, Geffery didn't miss the opportunity to pounce on the object. It was a chest that was too heavy to lug back to the orphanage, so Geffery decided to open it -- much to the dismay of his peers, who wanted the package for themselves. Inside was an ornately-designed lute that seemed quite expensive.   Being fascinated with this object, Geffery snuck it home to the orphanage and began to play it that same evening. As beginners are, he had difficulty making any musical sounds, but he was hooked. From this point on, every moment of spare time was spent learning this instrument; from after breakfast to before bed. This was a sense of escape, as conditions at the orphanage were less than stellar. The cruel elven man who ran the orphanage did not care for those under his care and was only referred to as "Headmaster". Food was scarce, and often the kids would have to beg passersby or scavenge in the trash or nearby woods. Those teens that were old enough and capable enough would hunt in the woods, and served as de facto parents for the other kids. This orphanage was not used for adoption, but instead for housing kids that needed it.   Eventually, well into adolescence, Geffery decided that his playing needed a sense of direction. So, he turned to his first love, a human girl named Villette, and wrote her a simple love song. Geffery played this song for her in private, much to her adoration, but some of the other kids caught this intimate act in-process and decided to cut it short. The other kids pranced around and began calling Geffery names, much to the embarrassment of both Villette and Geffery. Adolescents being adolescents, Villette refused to speak to Geffery, and this was a turning point. The decision was made to run away from the orphanage, leaving the poor living conditions and first love behind, with heartbreak behind and bright horizons ahead.   Fortunately for Geffery, a traveling circus called "The Show of Speculation and Spectation" was headed to the capitol from the north, and Geffery hitched a ride as a runaway. It was here that he realized his true passion for music. Starting initially as a background musician for the show, Geffery quickly got to grips with his sound upon meeting a male Tabaxi performer named Knott. Knott taught Geffery the basics of magic and showed him how he can imbue his music with these magical qualities. The potential shown to Geffery was enough to gain confidence, and not long after shows were featuring Geffery on the posters. During this period, Geffery traveled all throughout Fayfall, meeting dozens and dozens of people and started to build a reputation.   Not one afraid of new experiences, Geffery began to build a reputation as an intense performer with passion behind every piece, and a rebellious partier behind the scenes. Far too many romances and damaged taverns to count, Geffery began his career equivalent to that of a modern-day rockstar. After performing for nobility in Mallowhurst, an opportunity began to appear. The idea of performing to the continent's most powerful figures would do wonders for his reputation. And, the partying lifestyle began to wear thin on Geffery after a few years, as he wanted to gain more world experience and adventure for inspiration and details for his music, and to find his place in the world.   While touring the Free Holds, a letter found its way into Geffery's possession. In familiar handwriting, Villette requested his presence back in Ril'ar to fix what had been damaged all those years ago. And, even after all the partying and debauchery, a soft spot lies in his heart for his first love. So, returning to his homeland, Geffery seeks to heal a wound from his past.

Stout halfling entertainer who beats people in combat with a lute (both figuratively and literally). A dashing and well-traveled bard who has recently discovered the ability to imbue his music with magic. Aspires to be famous and to perform to nobility.
