The Gleaming Tundra
Structure
The Gleaming Tundra operates on feudalism. Feudalism refers to a way of life in which sharp, hierarchical divisions separate noble classes, clergy, and peasantry. Opportunities for movement between these hierarchies are largely impossible. In this system, peasants typically provided labor and military service in exchange for the occupancy of land and protection from outside forces under the authority of a noble lord. In turn, lordships, or fiefdoms, often engaged one another politically, economically, and militarily.
Culture
The tundra has a culture of extreme respect towards elders and individuals who have proven their worth to the country. Citizens such as skilled craftsmen, military leaders, government officials, noble lords, and ladies command great respect. This includes individuals from these classes from other countries. For example, the Vile Bog is very hated within the tundra considering Vraxis actions led to the death of a previous emperor. But despite this, individuals from this group would still be met with a great deal of respect in this country. Even more so for the alliance The Gleaming Tundra has with The Golden Moor.
Public Agenda
For the most part, the country has always been a peaceful place. Battles and wars do exist within the country, but typically for honor more so than any other reason. Citizens and nobility of the tundra wish to cultivate a very rich culture within their society and grow to be the greatest country they can be.
Assets
While natural resources are limited in the country, it does boast a very unique asset that other countries do not. The Gleaming Tundra has citizens who have arguably the most respect for their leadership and nobility out of all the countries. The country is not ruled by fear or threats of losing possessions. While it is possible for that to happen, citizens do not view their lives in this way. Citizens of the tundra have been raised and taught to have a massive amount of respect for those in power and those of nobility. This creates a culture where teaching younger generations anything, from trade skills to fighting, becomes much easier. Students put forth 100% of their effort to learn whatever it is they are being taught. Because of this, the tundra is home to some of the most skilled individuals in all of Agodale. Specifically sword fighting.
History
Founded by Shau Fe (the current Empress's Great Uncle), Shau Fe worked incredibly diligently and hard to create the culture that currently exists within the tundra. He believed so strongly that honor and respect are two of the most important tenants one can live by. Much of what Shau Fe believed was taught to him by Yoshimura, the Goddess of Honor. Throughout the country's history, there have always been a vast number of worshipers within the country. However, during the first Wrym war, when Yao Fe (Shau Fe's son and current emperor at the time) was killed by members of the vile bog, that belief began to waver. Many could not understand why such a true ruler was taken away from them. Not only Yao Fe but his children as well. This issue stayed within the country for years until the Reckoning happened. The Tundra was devastated by the war, and many people lost everything. After the disappearance of the gods, the worship within the country disappeared alongside them. While the country did its best to rebuild quicker than many expected, the painful memories of what happened still linger throughout the country. Many have lost faith in not just Yoshimura but all gods. Yun, the current empress, constantly struggles with this very issue herself, not knowing what is truly best for her people.
