Shadowfell Influence
Life in the Shadowfell used to be a death sentence. If a visitor couldn't make it back to the Material Plane quick, the shadows would constrict, threatening their life and twisting their emotions, until the victim's body or mind buckled. Everyone, eventually, would be killed by a monster or become one. This is how the whole plane tends to operate, but in Agrophon, it hasn't been that way for centuries.
The shadows in any given location have limited power. The more people they affect at once, the slower they work. When it was just a few foolhardy explorers, the risk of falling to the Shadowfell was inescapable. But now there are millions living in the shadow of Agrophon. In this century, most people can go their whole lives without witnessing a truly monstrous transformation.
"Shadowfell Influence" still manifests among the people of that plane, and it still has a chilling effect on the scenery; it just doesn't have the significance per person that it had before. In some cities, the influence is practically unheard of, and most people aren't sure what it really means. But it can still take on a life of its own, especially in small communities, or in events where the shadows become unnaturally dense.
