Aidan's Bluff
Aidan's Bluff exists in two parts. On the top of a cliff, a mostly human settlement rests which contains the center of commerce and the government. The most expensive homes are also there. Connected by a series of lifts, the bottom of the cliff is where much of the entertainment lives. It’s made up mostly of halflings. This area connects to the farms and main roads. There is a single road that leads to the upper settlement, but it’s rarely used due to the distance and danger.
Long ago, the area wasn’t much of a village at all, simply an outpost. But an powerful threat forced both halflings and humans to retreat to the area. They put aside their differences and worked together to fight back. In one case, the leader of the human troops, Aidan, gave his life to save the halfling leader’s family and thus the town was named after him.
Today, there are few threats to the town, both from without and within. It’s a safe haven for all ancestries. The halflings value simple living and enjoyment of life more than the humans, but they all seem to get along. The government leadership includes a mayor for the lower town and another for the upper town that must agree on all decisions. If a pressing agreement must be reached, a game of cards determines the winner. This is based on a provision put in place by the original halflings and thus far nobody has attempted to remove it.
Blue Rose Academy
This school is the only large school in the town. It isn’t well known around the world and is only a few decades old. But it’s gradually growing in popularity and prestige as the town itself expands and trade increases. Some of the top minds in the town give lessons here in addition to a small staff of teachers and a headmaster. One of the things it is known for is its wide range of educational topics. Besides the usual classes in arithmetic, writing, and history, there are a number of classes useful for adventurers. Topics include alchemy, spellcasting, wilderness survival, medicine, and more.Statue of Aidan
On one side of the town, on the cliff, a 15 ft. tall statue of Aidan stands with his arms outstretched as if he is about to embrace both halves of the community. The Cat's Paw Inn
A popular stop for travelers and adventurer's, Cat's Paw is owned and operated by Maggy, a no-nonsense middle-aged catfolk woman. The common room gets rowdy every night, but everyone knows if they were to make Maggy angry, they would regret it.Government
