Guild Master Tina McVey

Guild Master Tina McVey

Tina McVey is the Guild Master of the Jewelers' Guild. Her parents were aristocrats, part of the King's court. Her mother was the king's arcane advisor. As such, Tina - named Vascilia at the time - grew up seeing the tension between the Royalty and The Merchant Guilds of Vesmos. With her talent in magic, it was assumed she'd take her mother's place when she grew up, however Vascilia saw who had the real power and in a completely unexpected betrayal, she aligned herself with the Guilds . After years of serving as the Guilds' spy in the court, she eventually decided to leave, negotiating a place for herself as the next Guild Master of the Jeweler's Guild.   Upon leaving court, Vascilia discarded her given name, taking the name Tina McVey. She apprenticed under the Jewelers' Guild Master for five years before assuming the position, herself. She is the first Jewelers' Guild Master not to have a background as a tradesman - a fact that stirred a lot of dissent among the Guild. She silenced this dissent ruthlessly, but under her guidance, the Jewelers' Guild emerged as one of the predominant powers in Vesmos. She wields her political-knowhow without mercy and though she is not well liked, there is no denying the results of her methods.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Tina is the very image of aristocratic elegance. She likes to show off her wealth and is never without adornment in the form of jewelry and fine silks. She carries herself with the grace of a dancer - unflappable. Her gaze is cold, calculating, and when she speaks, it is with the boredom of someone who knows with absolute certainty that they are better than everyone else in the room.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Vascilia Karkov was born to wealth and power and luxury. She dined on the finest of foods, dressed in the latest fashions, and was waited on hand and foot. Her mother, being the arcane advisor to the King, had a wing in the palace, and Vascilia grew up playing with the prince and her servants. At five years old she displayed a talent for magic and began her grooming as the future arcane advisor. Now, she not only had wealth, but power and influence as well. People fawned on her from all sides, and never was she more pampered. But as she grew older, the price of her lifestyle became evident. Assassins lurked at banquets, spies infiltrated her servants, and no friend was entirely loyal. She learned not to trust, how to read the deception behind peoples eyes. She learned how to find people's weaknesses - their fears, their dreams, their secrets - and use them to bend them to her will.   Vascilia gained a reputation for being ruthless, conniving, and sometimes cruel. She saw the power struggles at court and used it to her own advantage with a sort of ease that many found concerning. And it was thus that she attracted the attention of the Merchant Guilds. They approached her for information, tentatively, expecting outrage. Instead, they found enthusiastic cooperation. Within a year she was not only feeding information to the Guilds, she was spreading misinformation in the court, using magic to spy on confidential meetings, and swaying the king's mind to service the Guilds' goals. This arrangement lasted for years, both parties profiting and growing in power, but Vascilia was at constant risk of being discovered.   Eventually, she felt it was too dangerous to continue to serve the Guilds this way, so she negotiated, instead, to join them -- her reward for her service. She left the capital and moved to Isomor under the name Tina McVey. She came to be an apprentice to the Jewelers' Guild Master, and once it was time, she took over the position, herself.

Education

Tina had an exceptional education. Private tutors taught her languages, history, mathematics, and art. She also had a tutor for the magical arts, helping her develop her natural talents.

Morality & Philosophy

Tina is the very epitome of Machiavellianism. She is mistrustful of others and believes that there are two types of people - those that take from others and those that are taken from by others. She would much rather be among the former, and she has the skills to do so.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Tina McVey is motivated by power. She's had money and prestige her whole life, but what she really wants is influence. She loves knowing that people fear her and she craves the attention and adoration that comes with power.

Virtues & Personality perks

Tina is charming, witty, and very clever. She's able to see through people's deceptions and facades to their true intentions. She is also able approach situations calmly, without letting her emotions get in the way.

Vices & Personality flaws

Tina is a cruel woman. She doesn't like to hurt others, but she likes to have power over them and know they fear her. She is extremely vain and self-involved, making it easy for her to underestimate others. Because she lacks trust, she tends to be isolated and feel like she's alone in the world.

The Guild Master of the Jewelers' Guild, Tina left a life of luxury as a noble and has since brought prosperity and power to the Guild with her cunning and political know-how
