The Gods of the Four Winds
There is an ancient legend that Aheila was created by four Gods. They are known as the Gods of the Four Winds. One for each of the four cardinal directions. Various ruins depict four, dragon-like beings as deities, however there have been no reports of dragon sightings since the settlement of Aheila, almost four hundred years ago. Without any proof to substantiate the rumors, most historians have dismissed it as myth - a way for the primitive races to explain natural disasters.
Summary
The legend states that a thousand years ago, the Gods of the Four Winds created Aheila to be the seat of their power. The four of them dwelled their, each guiding their followers as they saw fit. Over time, they began to feud with each other, vying for influence and control over the continent, each in their own way. The legend claims that when Aheila was settled, the gods formed the foundations of the countries to enact their wills. The wise god of the East influenced the people of Kaisu to pursue knowledge and science. The cunning God of the South gave rise to the guilds and organized them to seize vast amounts of power. The steadfast god of the North sheltered the people of Lasceye, teaching them to survive in the harsh Razor's Edge. And the brutal god of the West rules the hordes of the Howling Plains, building their power until they can once again dominate the continent.
Historical Basis
The only evidence that supports this legend are the sculptures and carvings of dragons that can be found in ruins scattered across Aheila. Historians have no proof that these creatures were anything beyond mortal, powerful though they might have been, and given the lack of dragon sightings on the continent, few believe in the existence of these gods.
