Half-orc

Quite often, half-orcs are the result of either an orcish raid or from orcs taking a liking to a prisoner. However, there are plenty who are simply the offspring of two half-orcs. Or a human and a more civilised orc. Or some other combination.   Orcs respect strength above all else and unless the half-orc demonstrates such, they are considered weak orcs. However, if they do prove themselves they are treated just like any other member of the tribe. Half-orcs among humans are sometimes met with slight prejudice as they are assumed to be more aggressive people. But generally, this doesn't cause too much inconvenience other than from the very prejudiced.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Half-orcs’ greyish pigmentation, sloping foreheads, jutting jaws, prominent teeth, and towering builds make their orcish heritage plain for all to see. Half-orcs stand between 6 and 7 feet tall and usually weigh between 180 and 250 pounds.   Orc s regard battle scars as tokens of pride and ornamental scars as things of beauty. Other scars, though, mark an orc or half-orc as a former slave or a disgraced exile. Any half-orc who has lived among or near orc s has scars, whether they are marks of humiliation or of pride, recounting their past exploits and injuries. Such a half-orc living among humans might display these scars proudly or hide them in shame.

Genetics and Reproduction

Half-orcs can reproduce with their own, orcs , humans , half-elves, and (though rare) elves. Matings with anything bit an orc or another half-orc usually diminishes the orcish traits to the point where offspring will only have superficial attributes hinting at its parentage.

Growth Rate & Stages

Half-orcs mature faster than humans, reaching full maturity by about 14 and being able to have children well before then. They age a lot faster, and one living beyond 75 is very rare.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Darkvision. Dim light is considered bright light, and darkness out to 60 feet is perceived as dim light.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Half-orcs normally speak the language of where they grew up, meaning Common mostly. But even those who grow up among other races learn Orcish as a way to connect to their herritage. For better or worse.   Those who grow up among orcs similarily learn Commonas well as Orcish in order to better interract with other races.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Half-orcs growing up among orcs often have a hard time relating to the people living in so-called civilised areas, but in general, the race is a good bridge between orcs and humans when there's a chance for diplomacy.
