Dance of Equina
Within the Imperial province of Florin, the Dance of Equina is one of the major religious holidays celebrating the life and death of Queen Equina who founded their nation before their absorption into the Osvac Empire.
As the Dance of Equina is performed the Sun's gaze is pulled to Florin allowing for many great rituals and miracles to be performed during this time.
History
Equina founded the province of Florin during the Eternal Hunts as the Fae folk and Elves hunted mortals for sport. Equina is said to have been little more than teenager when she acquired the Blade of Depths enchanted with the crushing force of the sea and the Sun's Shield filled with all the Suns Majesty positive and negative. With these two artefacts she slew a Prince of Wilds sending a message to the King of Fae that the people of Florin were no mere prey.
The Dance of Equina came after her victories it is said that on the night, she returned the Sun's Shield she was taught a dance in exchange for the service she had done. For three days and three nights she danced and at the end she was told as long as her people perform this dance the Sun will not lose sight of them.
Few now actual perform the Dance of Equina but for three days and three nights the people of Florin hold a celebration in the form of a festival.
Execution
For three days practitioners of the Dance of Equina must fast. It begins early into the morning before the sun has risen, practitioners begin the Dance within a home dancing out from the front door they move towards a plaza or field in rapid stilted movements. There things become more hectic as more and more practitioners gather the Sun begins to rise. Once the Sun has risen the nature of the dance changes to slow flowing movements this continues till the sun sets. For three days this cycle continues.
Components and tools
Few tools are needed during the Dance of Equina, but the festival requires many things from the focusing lenses of astronomers to the forges of smiths. These tools are used in many of the smaller rituals that take place during the Dance of Equina.
Participants
Within Florin the largest of the Dances of Equina is held within the Capital of Poatla, there the House Koare descended of Equina, members of the House perform the Dance of Equina for all to see. Within Poatla the Astronomers of Red Cliffs also come to observe and perform their Song of Spheres and Radiant Hymn. The Glass Speakers of the Liminal Wood and representatives from outside the province also come to observe.
Observance
The Dance of Equina must begin on the morning of the 18th day of the 6 month and end on the morning of the 21st day of the 6th month.
