Nome of the Low Plains

The third dominion of the Triarchy was the Unity of Jileath, a territory controlled by five earth Genasi dynasties, all claiming a common ancestor in the legendary hero Jileath. Like the genasi of the High Plains, they had long struggled to fend off raids from the wild centaurs of the Green Sea.
When they joined the Blessed Concordance, the Unity formalised the terms of their fraternal bonds in the creation of the Republic of the Low Plains. Ever since, they have been ruled by a senate, elected by the people; more specifically, by those with genasi heritage. There are fifteen districts in the Low Plains, each returning three senators. Although notionally egalitarian, the electoral rules of the Republic are slanted distincvtly towards the status quo. Only those with genasi ancestors are eligible to vote for their district’s senators, but those who manifest the elemental spirit are granted an additional vote, and earth genasi have three votes. Furthermore, members of one of the Five Houses of Jileath contribute an additional vote, assigned in a bloc by the head of their house in any district where the house has holdings.
The senate appoints a leading citizen – often, but not always also a senator – to the office of President, the nomarch and chief executive of the nome. Each of the Houses also appoints a House Elector. The oldest senator is also an elector, as is the Senior Primarch of the Archon in the nome.
