The Godkillers

Thirteen blades were prepared in the fires of the Fateforge for the Uprising of the Orcs. These blades were forged to slay both their Gods and the Dark Lords’ celestial servants, and each one was invested with the power of their rage, the force of their grievances and their hopes for the future destiny of a free orc culture. Each blade burned white hot until quenched in the blood of a god, but only three were ever sealed in this way, the other ten being lost or destroyed during The Uprising. Those three each passed through the hands of a hundred or more Orcs, each a hero of the race, to account for the full tally of their masters.   It is said that these three blades became Divine Instruments, and that the two which survive still have the power to slay Gods. In truth, they are not quite so mighty. Although they are able to permanently dispatch most fiends and celestials, on any plane of Existence, only a god can slay another god. The worst that these blades can do is break a god's being, forcing it to assume the aspect of a grey divinity and banishing it to the slow death of The Abyss.
The Three
The Three are the blades that fulfilled their destiny and took the lives of one or more Dark Lords.
  • Tatters and Ashes, a black steel falchion forged by the Rising Storm. Empowered by the Storm's rage over the generations of abuse to which they were witness, and even party, the blade was quenched in the heart’s blood of the Giver of Banners. The nature of the blade is implacable. It was also used to kill the Master of Shields, Keeper of Wargs, Driver of Boars, Lash of the Hordes and Honer of Blades, and after The Uprising was renamed the Killer of Six. It's long, curved blade is notched, and its hilt wrapped in scorched rags.
  • Dark Star, a mithral spear forged by the Shadow of Death. It was quenched in the blood of a Once-Dead to hide its fire, and then driven into the back of the Marshall of Spears. Its blade is bright, but its nature is dark and subtle. It was also used to kill the Sender of Bats, Warden of the Marches and Digger of Graves, and was renamed the Killer of Four.
  • Blood for Blood, a great axe forged by the Engine of War. Its blade was fed in its forging with the blood of slaves who died willingly to fuel the weapon’s vengeance and was quenched as it was driven into the flesh of the Chainer of Thralls more than a hundred times, by as many different hands, including non-orcs. Its blade was stained blood red, and its nature was cruel and vengeful. It also claimed the lives of the Kindler of Fires and Binder of Boots. Renamed the Killer of Three after the Uprising, it was later corrupted by infernal influences and destroyed when wielded by the unworthy.

The Five
The Five were captured by the Honer of Blades before they could be used, and although believed destroyed their final fate is uncertain.
  • Dolorous Howl, a black steel lance forged by the Grey Wind. It was one of five of the blades taken by the Honer of Blades and believed destroyed.
  • Tower’s Fall, an adamantine maul forged by the Scouring Flame. It was one of five of the blades taken by the Honer of Blades and believed destroyed.
  • Arch of Anger, a black oak longbow fashioned by the Unsleeping Vigil. It was one of five of the blades taken by the Honer of Blades and believed destroyed.
  • Mercy of the Wronged, a mithral dagger. It was one of five of the blades taken by the Honer of Blades and believed destroyed.
  • Eternity’s End, a scythe with a black steel blade on a black oak haft, fashioned by the Barren Harvest. It was one of five of the blades taken by the Honer of Blades and believed destroyed.
  • Shattered Road, an adamantine Warhammer forged by the Unstoppable. It was lost early in the Uprising in unknown circumstances.

The Four
The Four are those weapons that were destroyed before they could be used.
  • Shieldbreaker, an adamantine longsword forged by the Iron Bulwark. It was destroyed by the Master of Shields before it could be quenched.
  • Blind Vengeance, a black oak javelin bound in bronze and tipped with adamantine, forged by the Thousand Eyes. It wounded the Sender of Bats but was destroyed before its quenching was complete.
  • Rage Indefatigable, a black steel battleaxe forged by the Black Thunder. It was destroyed by the Driver of Boars.
  • Shattered Bond, a three-headed flail of black steel, adamantine and mithral fixed to repurposed slave shackles. It bound and wounded the Lash of the Hordes, but did not kill him.
