Undying King (secret)

Cevan was a mortal servant of Sharn and Zerak, the so-called Mad Titans, who sought a means to restore their own immortality in the wake of the birth of time, the Colossus War and the shattering of the harmony of Aiaos.   After decades of service, Cevan realised that his masters had no intention of ever sharing the immortality they sought with their servants, and so he organised a rebellion of their minions, sacrificing millions to weaken his masters enough to strike them down, whereupon he cut off the left hand of Zerak and carved out the left eye of Sharn. He sacrificed his own eye and hand, replacing them with the stolen organs in order to wield the titans’ own power against them.   Cevan raised the Tower of Zerak-Sharn above the graves of the titans, and later abandoned it when he succeeded in becoming a celestial. His body was atomised when he ascended, but the eye and the hand remained, even as the tower crumbled and the Regime province and later city-state of Zeras grew up above them. Now he is worshipped as the Undying King, the Wispered Word, and his mark – the pale eye in the palm of a six-fingered hand – spreads across the world in the hands of his undead servants.   The ultimate goal of the Undying King is to achieve full godhood. He is immortal and wields vast power, but is not yet a god, although he is stronger than many who hold that status. He seeks a sufficiently powerful god to overcome and consume in order to fuel his transformation, as well as sufficient worship to sustain him afterwards.   He also seeks to reclaim the Eye of Sharn and the Hand of Zerak, which bind a large part of his power into the world. These artefacts are sometimes gifted to his champions, but this is always a risk. They do reform when destroyed, but are invariably lost to Cevan’s gaze afterwards.
