Jardonnes
1st of Sun's Swell, AE 721
Jardonnes was pronounced as the new capital of The Commonwealth of Aigua two days after the Sanguine Revolution ended with the Day of Red Streets on the 12th of Night's Crown, 602.
A Nation Reborn
Jardonnes is largely seen as being chosen in order to provide separation from the trauma invoked by Citérielle's capital, Corsain. Places in Corsain long associated with the Citérenne's "care centers" were shut down, mansions owned by those who created kindred by force were emptied, and nearly 30 city blocks were burned to their foundations. The flames only singed the guillotines in the middle of downtown. Jardonnes, by comparison, is untainted. While still itself a sizeable city, it has a smaller, cozier village atmosphere, tucked in the foothills of the Siljak Mountains, with charmingly antiquated architecture which betrays its age. For centuries, it has been the jumping-off point for a mountain pass through which trade with the Avarian Divine Empire travels through.Guilds and Factions
Although the Citérenne have long since been overthrown, not all of their institutions have disappeared. The House Petit and House Gagnon, two minor houses which split off from the House Bonfils and House Thibaut, respectively, had a long established presence in Jardonne prior to it becoming Aigua's capital, and still do to this day. Now taken over by the Houses' dhampirs and sustainers, both have become cultural forces to be reckoned with.
The House Petit owns and operates almost the entirety of the city's hospitality industry, as well as a ski lodge, health spa, and the city's two largest jazz clubs. The House Gagnon quickly became involved in politics after the Sanguine Revolution, with members of the relatively small house holding a proportionally large number of positions in local and national politics.
