Tamque Region

The Tamque Region makes up a large, dawnward section of Mosvador. It is one of the most rural regions in the county, with northern foothills of the Siljak mountains forming the border with the Voskuan Republic. Occupants of the region are mostly either semi-nomadic pastoralists belonging to the Jendaiari people, or workers who are part of Mosvador's mining union. Since the region only became a protectorate of Mosvador somewhat recently, it exercises more autonomy than other regions in the country, having their own legal and judicial systems.

Assets

The Tamque region is home to a number of mining operations on their side of the Siljak Mountains. Jade, serpentines, and chrysoprase are the most commonly mined minerals, typically sold for use in art, jewelry, or other ornamental objects. Obsidian is also occasionally found.

History

Tamque Region became a protectorate of Mosvador in AE 655. After over a century of persecution at the hands of the Voskuan Republic, the foothills and valley on the duskward side of the Siljak Mountains where the Jendaiari were settled was found to contain a number of valuable ores. The Jendaiari lacked the technology and infrastructure to access the ores themselves, and so the mining union within Mosvador set forth a proposal to extend an offer of protection to the Jendaiari, in exchange for access to and ownership of the Siljak foothills, where mines could be set up. The proposal was approved, and the offer extended to the Jendaiari in 653, and was accepted the following year, and implemented the year after. It has led to increased tensions between Mosvador and the Voskuan Republic, but the stores of jadeite and other minerals that have been found have proved quite profitable.
