Brief World History

The current year is 355 RB (Rebirth). Aietherhall has gone through sweeping changes in the last 355 years. The turning of an age occurred when a fire spread across the entire land in an instance. Culling nearly all populations to critical levels, destroying history books and those that keep knowledge safe, and created a rift in power structures everywhere. Since then the continent has split into three sides who have maintained a shaky ceasefire for the moment but are still technically at war.

Aietherhall, the original ruler of the continent has maintained its power in the north. Lead by their current King Stephan Tydeos they hope to reclaim their lost territory at some point by any possible means. Flaicor to the South, were the power who originally broke off from the monarchy. Believing that they could create a more democratically structured political system and survive independent to the North's constant use of their trade funds. And lastly Daken Carade within the Crag Mountains and forests. The most recent of unions only happening within the last few years, the Elves and Dragonborn struck an Alliance to protect each other from Aietherhall's military but also to keep themselves independent from Flaicor as well.

However beyond the politics, the world seems to move independently. A large rift forming in the sky 5 years ago caused panic among the populace of all sides. People believing that another calamity was upon them. However after some rumblings nothing substantial seemed to happen. The rift still hangs in the sky 5 years later and the people have grown comfortable with it being there, albeit cautiously. With this rift however there were still effects that seemed to be connected to it. Large amounts of planar arrivals have begun to be noted in guild hall's and notice boards. Some of these visitors good, spreading new trade and goods for the people, however most are detrimental as the creatures ravage villages and nature as they clash with their strange new surroundings.

The land has stuck to its more traditional deities that have been around for as long as the history they have tells them. However since the rift opened it seems the understandings of the divine for all life has been shaken. New cults, patrons, and even gods seemed to have surfaced. Some people speaking as if they had always followed them. This confusion among historians, priests, and common folk has lead to some heated debates on who or what even controls the heavens, hells, and everything in between.
