Quetzalcoatl

The Quetzalcoatl were created by Ouroboros, The world serpent, a massive Couatl in the celestial plane of light. The yuan-ti pleaded with Ouroboros to help them hide from the old ones, Tonatiu and Metstli. Ouroburos agreed and created the Quetzalcoatl from a combination of his own kin and the snakes of the prime material plane. The Quetzalcoatl helped the yuan-ti fight against the cultists who still fought to keep the old ones in power over them. But eventually they were victorious, the cult was cut off from the power structures and through the combined efforts of the several groups the old ones lost sight of Periculum.    With no immediate danger left for the Quetz to protect from, they were sent to rest and sleep until they were needed again. But now they awake again to fulfill their duty once more.

Age: Quetzalcoatl are creatures of powerful magic. They mature unnaturally as they awaken in matured form driven by purpose. They eventually will rest again once their ultimate duty is complete and the elder evils recede again.   Alignment: Quetzalcoatl lean towards good alignment but there those that stray or rebel against their origins.   Size: Quetzalcoatl stands between 8-12 feet, head and shoulders above most other races, and average about 300-400 pounds. Your size is large.   Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Darkvision: Your heritage gave you the ability to see in the dark and in dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.   Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic.   Feathered Tail: Your tail is a powerful and useful appendage. Thanks to its long tail Quetz have great balance, they have advantage on saves and checks that would knock them prone. While wearing armor you are considered to be wearing equipment on the base of your tail for the purposes of serving as a mount to a creature of a size smaller than you. While mounted in this way, you maintain your full range of actions and you can take your turn during your rider’s turn instead of your own.   Barding equipment can be bought/started with for specific classes with armor based abilities such as monks, barbarians, and wizards. Moon

The moon subrace of quetz uses its shorter size to its advantages using the use of its magic wings to allow it to fly for a short time taking on more toned colors that are more light. The moon were created to be ranged and efficient spellcasters and mobile units.   Proficiencies: Your heritage gives you the ability to feel magic through your body and around you. You gain proficiency in Arcana   Feathered Wings: Quetzalcoatl possess powerful wings that are normally hidden. As an action you summon forth a pair of magical wings for 1 minute. While your wings are active you gain a fly speed of 30 feet.Once your wings are manifested they cannot do so again until you finish a short or long rest.   Mark of Purpose: Each Quetzalcoatl is born with a purpose in life. To refuse to embrace this purpose is to die, and embracing such grants powerful boons.These purposes are chosen to fit their strengths so that the ultimate purpose of removing the elder evils from the prime material can be completed. Choose one of the following Purposes:  
  • Mark of Life: Your purpose is to bring forth and maintain life. You gain the ability to cast the Cure Wounds spell at first level, using Constitution as your spellcasting ability modifier, once per long rest.
  • Mark of Knowledge: Your purpose is to gain information so it can be spread among those who need it. You learn thaumaturgy and cast it at will. Additionally you gain proficiency in either history or performance.

Sun

The Sun Subrace was created for strength on the ground, their body adapting to a large and strong build. The physical foot soldiers of the Quetzalcoatl. They are geared for face to face combat.   Proficiencies: Your heritage gives you the ability to be adapted to dangerous conditions. You gain proficiency in Athletics   Large Strides: Your Speed is increased by 10 feet.   Powerful Tail: While you are not mounted your tail is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit with it, you deal bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier.   Mark of Purpose: Each Quetzalcoatl is born with a purpose in life. To refuse to embrace this purpose is to die, and embracing such grants powerful boons.These purposes are chosen to fit their strengths so that the ultimate purpose of removing the elder evils from the prime material can be completed. Choose one of the following Purposes:  
  • Mark of Creation: Your purpose is to create, to innovate, to make. You gain proficiency in Smith’s Tools. In addition, you gain proficiency in armor one step above what you can normally wear (This is only based on your starting class). IE, if you have proficiency in light armor, you gain medium armor proficiency, if you have proficiency in medium armor you gain heavy armor proficiency.
  • Mark of Death: Your purpose is to strike down your enemies and those that would defy all life. You gain proficiency in both simple and martial weapons. Additionally once per short rest you can add an additional damage die to one weapon attack you make.
