Gloomacre

Human Location

Inkarnate
Gloomacre is the human capital of the IV Civilization with a population of +60,000. It is located in the East Civ IV, SE of Kingdoms Divide, E of Gloomacre Traverse and NW of Gloomacre Keep. The city is split up into districts within the walls of both upper and lower tiers of society - those born of noble blood and those who are not. In the northern part of the city we have Gloomacre Castle where King Leonard IV resides, surrounding the castle we have the mansions of his council members and the tip top VIP's of society. On the western side of the Northern District we have Upper and Lower North - Upper is where the upper class and 'people of money' live and reside in fancy houses and Lower North is where the rich go to shop and browse for fancy goods, trade in wealth and make all their purchases. This concludes the Northern District.

To the East side, South of the King's Moat, we have the Conjoining Gardens, a peaceful place where Upper and Middle class can mix amongst large scale art and nature. For this reason it is nicknamed "RILLIFANE's Retreat".

In the centre of the City we have the great circular "Commoner's Market" - a place where trading and bartering is abundant. If you're looking for anything to buy or sell, here is the place to do it. A 24/6 marketplace with people striking deals by the minute.

South of the Market and stretching to the Eastern side of the city we have the "Warehouse District". A heavily organized section of the city, oddly enough mostly run by Dwarves and Humans rather than any other race, besides the workers themselves who tend to be on the beefier side. The majority of cargo and supplies are stored in this district hence why it has such a high presence of Royal Guard. Thieving and smuggling is very prominent in this district due to the shear size of it, makes it hard to keep track of all cargo at once.

North of the Warehouse District and south of the Conjoining Gardens we have the "Dwarven Embassy". Essentially a few established buildings where Dwarven politicians and leaders can commerce, so as to keep the two races connected throughout the Realm. In return Gloomacre sends airships of supplies to Bherdoral every 2 weeks or so, due to its seclusion to the far East.

Between the Market and the Dwarven Embassy we have the "Archivist's District". This is a small assortment of few buildings which includes the 'Royal Archives' as well as the 'Library'. A single member of "The HARPERS" leads this district as the Main Archivist for the entire Eastern Civ IV. This district also has the ability to accommodate for the teleportation circle spells and keeps tight track of who goes where and when. This district also contains a museum with a few rare artifacts for public viewing.

To the North of the Archivist's District we have the "Elven Embassy". Again, this is few buildings that allow the Elves to keep track and stay in the loop on local matters and possible issues. Despite the Dwarves giving the humans a helping hand with their architecture and general run of things, the Elven Embassy keeps to themselves and rarely make an appearance unless asked by the King himself. They are quiet yet revered.

To the West of the Elven Embassy we have the "Lord's Alliance". A district of Noble-Blooded Knights and of the same sort. The Alliance within Gloomacre was reluctantly allowed by King Leonard IV after he came to the realization that he could profit off of it. The Alliance is essentially a district of private contract adventurers and Mercenaries who fight for a good alignment. Their main goal: "To ensure the safety and prosperity of the cities and other settlements".

To the west of the Alliance we have the "Sage & Scholar District". A district with a huge university/college that accepts all races of people in to aid and help follow their thirst for knowledge. The College works directly with the Library and the Archivists to help better the education of the people.

To the North West of the Sage's District we have the "Cemetery and Crypt". Not a district as such but allows a huge space for burials of all class of people (if you can afford it). If you have enough money you can choose to be buried as most of Gloomacre's dead are burned outside the city walls. This allows less diseases and infection of illnesses. The crypt sits below the Kings Moat and is accessed by a trap door within the cemetery.

To the S of the Cemetery and Crypt we have the "Western Guard", district of the Royal Guard. This district contains few buildings, mainly barracks for the Royal Guard and briefing rooms for the officers and middle command. This area also contains an indoor training building for CQC (Close Quarter Combat) that the guards make use of.

To the SE of the Western Guard we have the "Enigma Spire". A gargantuan tower that exists not only on the PRIME MATERIAL PLANE but also in a pocket dimension that makes it impossible to enter without being invited in. This is a very rare honor granted only to the 'Earl Marshal' - the King's right-hand-man - so as to utilize and commune with 'Professor Amazz' the bubbly yet professional and dismissive human wizard who stakes his claim within Gloomacre studying the Arcane with great intent, specifically on what is unknown to anyone but himself.

To the W of Enigma Spire there is "The Reformatory". Gloomacre's large local prison that holds the city's incarcerated individuals of a relatively low danger to society. Anybody who is considered a low level criminal is held here until their release OR dangerous criminals are held here until their hearing with the King, then sentenced. This district has a large fortress like building that goes underground surrounded by thick stone walls, as well as a large stone paved area with stocks and minor menial laboring tasks.

Below the Reformatory to the S, the "Helmite District" is where all religious shrines, temples, sanctuary's, churches and Healers dwell. All deities that are allowed to be worshipped by the Eastern Civ have some sort of community and clergy here. This district contains a huge cathedral to HELM, God of Protection with a large antechamber to ILMATER, God of Endurance. Dwarven and Elven Gods/Goddesses are not worshipped within this district, purely the Human Belief Pantheon.

Sandwiched between the Helmite District and the Commoner's Market we have the "Revelry". This district is a bustling place of Taverns, Bars, Festivity's and Brothels. The amount of money this district pulls in is unfathomable. Every 'Glohux' (Friday - by the elven calendar) this district comes to life, full pub brawling, gambling, whoring and fetish house's. Due to this district's rowdiness is why the Helmite District has such built up walls around its perimeter. Here you can find many brooding tavern owners and quick-to-anger individuals looking for their next drink. This district has an assortment of wealths in terms of property, some buildings are almost immaculate due to how well they do with the public and others are incredibly run down either due to poor business or due to defacing - for any possible reason: arguments, drug or booze money disputes, perhaps even a salty individual losing a brawl and holding a grudge. This district is usually left alone by the Royal Guard from 'Glohux'(Friday) evening onwards until 'Puxis'(Sunday) morning when the holy day of the week begins. Very few places here accept admittance of any race other than human.

To the SE of the Revelry we have the "Lodgings". This district is packed full of Inn's, B&Bs and Hostels where it is conveniently located near to the Southern Gate for travelers to access easily. This district holds very little importance other than the sheer amount of positive contribution to the economy due to Gloomacre's Revelry district being so well known outside of the walls. This means that people will travel far just for a weekend within Gloomacre, therefore the "Lodgings" is imperative to those Humans who come from afar to let loose.

To the S of the Lodgings there is a small district known only as "The 4th Battalion". This is very much like the 'Western Guard' except with greater resources and is essentially the next step up from the Royal Guard. To be pat of the 4th Battalion is every soldiers dream as this specific battalion responds directly to the King. It is 500 men strong at any one time and as soon as a member dies, he is replaced within the hour. If any member reaches the age of 40 they are retired with a large paycheck and are free to follow their own ambitions. Unlike the Royal Guard, this battalion contains races from the TriBound Empire, not just humans.

To the NE of the 4th Battalion and directly E of the Lodgings, we have the "Labour Sector". This district is the home of all black-smiths, tanners, Iron-workers, Smelters, carpenters and just general laborers. This district is memorable for its smog and honest yet brash owners. Here you can get weapons and/or armor made for a good enough price, perhaps on the more pricey side due to the lack of mines within the Eastern Civ but nonetheless its an honest district. The laborers are known to stick together in a fierce 'family-like' rivalry but if you do wrong by one of them, you'd be doing wrong by most of them. Dwarves are the main race in this district with the help of the beefier individuals to help out with the heavy lifting i.e. Half-Orc, Goliath, Firbolg and even a few loxodon. There is also a renowned and revered Black-Smith within this district who will produce incredibly fine pieces of armour and weaponry for the right price (If you can find her).

To the E of the Labour Sector we have the "Accommodation Region". This is an area of Gloomacre specifically built up with single and double occupant flats to allow for maximum space efficiency when it comes to housing. This sector was built for the laborers that work the forges etc within the Labour Sector allowing quick access to home and work so as to maximize production. This sector is not something to look twice at seeing as it is a region of modest to poor individuals who eat, sleep and work for their livelihood however it makes for easy thievery if you are so aligned.

To the S of the Labour Sector you have the "Immigrant Enclave". This area of Gloomacre is a site of tents, bare huts made of basic wood and carpentry skills and Gypsies. It is a dodgy area of Gloomacre and is known for its drug supply as well as its illegal moonshine operation. It is a sector of Gloomacre where races who appear "less humanoid" are put by the Royal Guard. Most chaotic aligned races reside here due to their dislike by the human race and constant violent tendencies. These races include: AARAKOCRA, Dragonborn, Goliath, Half-Orc, Lizardfolk, Tiefling, Tabaxi. As well as a few evil inclined races like: Bugbears, Goblins and Orcs who have fled their home turf and have sought refuge within Gloomacre.

To the E of the Immigrant Enclave we have the "Remnants". This district is avoided by most due to its nature and history. It is a region of old Gloomacre ruins that never got rebuilt over with the new architecture plans of the Fourth Era. Being so run down and unsellable these ruins became home to squatters and illegal immigrants. Individuals who have somehow got into Gloomacre without going through the gates or by stowing themselves in carts or even with illusion spells. Due to the King's Promise to the people of Gloomacre to take care of anyone within the walls of this great city means he cannot evict these individuals however he doesn't have to rebuild the area either and this is his way of having a small victory and oppressing those who have swindled him.

Right up close to the E, SE and W walls of Gloomacre we have the "Slums". Accommodations of squalid quality that are incredibly run down and owned by the poorest human individuals, usually having 10 or more people to one homestead. They are better off than the Immigrant Enclave and the Remnants however are still looked down upon by most of society due to the uncleanliness.

To the W just after entering the South Gate are the Stables. The largest stables available within Gloomacre and the Eastern Civ, these stables hold the entire city's steeds. Incredibly important when the King's Battalion need to be somewhere quickly, the stable master "Tarcanen Ilbehas" has always got 20 horses prepped at one time.

Just as you head into the East gate we have "Gloomacre Landing". An airship port usually used for cargo to and from other cities. It is a large open area with enough space to allow a single airship to dock at one time fenced in with stone walls that meet at the single tower toward the S. This area is accompanied with the Cargo Bay, directly E, a large stone floored open area surrounded by a large log fence encompassing the pallets of goods either being loaded or unloaded onto the airships. This area is guarded heavily due to its infiltration or illegal immigration possibilities. These airships can also take a small group of passengers for a fee to other Capitol cities.

A building of note is the "Noble Waterwheel", a small waterwheel building just E of Gloomacre Castle. It has been part of Gloomacre since it was established and has been kept in immaculate condition over the many years. It is lived in by an individual known as "Watson 'White Hair' Leviathan".
