Haldeyr

NPC

Half-Elf male, runs the CURTIDURÍA - Tannery - Leatherworks and offers tanned skins and hides, will also accept pelts as payment or may try to buy them off of you. Friendly and respectable.

Haldeyr will tell tales of working alongside Martin San Martin for a few years back along when he used to be a miner. Due to his own tendency to become bored he switched jobs and decided to become a tanner. He will mention a story:   "A few years ago, before Briza became Baroness of Vitolonia, there was a civil rights trial against the previous member of the King's Council who ruled here, a man named Santiaga Drunhilese. He ruled with absolute certainty, a wicked and cruel man, one who would cut you down for none other reason than 'forcing a nail through a Fribruis' (Elven saying for losing ones temper very quickly). He was accountable for many deaths here in Vitolonia, yet the Council never lifted a finger. That was until Briza came along. But! Before I jump ahead, Martin was a man of honor and steadhaste, never allowing himself to be trampled on by the powers that be and never walking away from a deal with one side unhappy. He was fair. He was just and if you're really asking my opinion, a bit of a fool for it. Anywho, Martin and I say eye to eye for a good many months whilst he was my employer, so much so he housed me for a short while whilst I got a solid foothold in this town - imagine that!"   "What I'm trying to make the point of is that Martin would be offered on a regular basis by the Baron to sell his Burrow to the crown. Martin of course would always disagree, no matter how much they offered, and believe me, it got into the tens of thousands of gps. Until eventually it got to the point where the Baron had enough of Martin's refusal to sell and began slaving the lumber workers in his anger - he refused to pay them, overworked them and enforced it with his own private militia he'd taken on by the Zhentarim (Roll history - DC 12). At this point the Crown stepped in and Briza was sent from Saron to amend his rule over the town. Santiaga was a Baron no more and was trialed and exiled from Vitolonia, never to return on penalty of death."   "To be quite honest my friends, Im not sure whether Briza is any better than Santiaga, it seems like all our assets are either being sold off to the crown or closed down, enforcing the King's rule over production. This wasn't the way of the Western Civ in previous Eras and I sure as hell don't want it to be now! (Roll History - DC 18 - See History PDF - Era1 5c). Briza wants control over production of this town, even if she won't admit it."         -Haldeyr spoke to Renwynn about Briza and his opinion of Vitolonia.   -Haldeyr had an intense moment with Bal after a raunchy, flirtatious scene within his tannery leaving Haldeyr a little confused yet mildly surprised! The party are inclined to believe he is a homosexual and proud, if shy.
