As your party descends into the cavernous depths of Fellspire, the ambient heat gradually intensifies. The rugged walls of the sloped city are adorned with structures crafted from materials resistant to the fiery environment. In the distance, the soft glow of lava rivers carves through the darkness, casting an eerie radiance across the tiers of the city. As you navigate through the bustling streets, glimpses of the prized cryogems can be seen, adorning buildings and enchanting the air with a subtle chill. The constant dance between fire and ice shapes the unique character of Fellspire, a city thriving amidst the searing heat, sustained by the very essence it extracts from the heart of Airth.

Fellspire is a Breach city, two weeks sailing south to Mienica. It's a volcanic island, the blown caldera on the north side providing shade and refuge for the opening to the sloped, curved underground city. The south side of the island is magma and lava flow, which occasionally leaks down to the city below. Over the years, the city has worked around the lava flows, making them into rivers and building around them.
The people of Fellspire have adapted to the extreme conditions, and many wear clothing woven with cooling enchantments. The cryogem mines, Fellspire's primary export, provide employment for a significant portion of the population.
The cryogems are not just economic assets; they are also revered for their role in keeping the city habitable. Festivals are held to celebrate the gems and the cooling magic they bring.

The city also engages in metalworking, forging tools and structures to withstand the heat. The majority of people in the city work the mines, or sort and refine the gems for shipping.
Fellspire is known for its unique trade agreements, offering a lifeline of cooling resources to hotter regions in exchange for other essential goods. The ice boxes created from cryogems are prized in markets across the Breach cities and up.

Geography

This Breach city is built into the walls of its sloped cavern. The surface island of Fellspire is split in half - surrounded on one half by an active volcano that flows downward to the ocean, and the other half of the island that contains the archway into the depths. The city has winding lava flows, causing intense heat and occasional rivers of lava. The city is tiered, with upper levels closer to the surface and lower levels descending into the heart of the cavern. The mines break off into the rock. At the bottom of the slope of city is a pool of lava.

Managing the flow of lava and preventing it from engulfing parts of the city is a constant challenge. The cryogems are also a source of contention, leading to disputes with neighboring cities and factions over mining rights.

Climate

Despite the natural heat of the cavern, the widespread use of cryogems, both naturally carving around them and repurposing the carved mineral, allows Fellspire to have cooler pockets, and some buildings are adorned with intricate ice sculptures.
