The Journal of Saida Myrrhion

Saida Myrrhion, a wild magic sorcerer of great intellect and curiosity, devoted her life to unraveling the mysteries of magic. From a young age, she meticulously recorded her wild magic surges, studying their patterns and trying to discern any underlying consistency. As she grew in power, she gained some measure of control over these surges, allowing her to manipulate them to a limited extent.   Towards the end of her life, Saida's powers reached their zenith, granting her fleeting glimpses into the fabric of time itself. During one of these temporal jaunts, she witnessed a terrifying vision: the collapse of the Weave and the subsequent devastation of civilization. Determined to uncover the truth behind this apocalyptic event, Saida embarked on a desperate quest to understand when and why the Weave would meet such a catastrophic fate.   In the twilight of her life, Saida found herself embroiled in a fierce battle against a powerful dragon, Hyrsantryx, a conflict that would ultimately claim her life. Yet, in a moment of sheer willpower and determination, she managed to harness her wild magic abilities and transport herself through time, seeking refuge in her own office in a distant future.   It was in this future timeline that Saida encountered her young grandson, Osiris, who had ventured into her sealed office out of curiosity. Seeing an opportunity to pass on her life's work and ensure its continuation, Saida entrusted her journal to Osiris, knowing that he possessed the potential to unlock the secrets she had spent a lifetime pursuing.   Thus, Saida's legacy lived on through Osiris, who dedicated himself to studying her journal and piecing together the fragments of knowledge she had left behind. Together, they hoped to uncover the truth behind the collapse of the Weave and perhaps even prevent such a catastrophe from ever occurring.
Date: 17th of Brussendar, 2021   Today marks another surge of wild magic, unpredictable as ever. I attempted to cast a simple Detect Magic, yet the magic surged beyond my control, engulfing the room in a dazzling display of sparks and colors. As I strive to understand the nature of these surges, I am reminded of the fragility of our connection to the Weave. How can one hope to master magic when its very essence eludes our grasp?

Date: 3rd of Fessuran, 2094   In my dreams, I find myself wandering through realms untouched by time, glimpsing fragments of the past and future. The lines between reality and illusion blur, and I am left questioning the nature of existence itself. Is magic a force to be harnessed, or a chaotic whirlwind that defies comprehension? Only through diligent study and introspection can we hope to unlock its true potential.

Date: 28th of Misuthar, 2095   After speaking with some of Sylren's colleagues, I believe I am dreaming of the Astral Sea, though I cannot imagine why. I will have to do some research on the Sea to understand if these dreams are serving a purpose. There is a seminar at the Collegium in the next year that Sylren has recommended.

Date: 14th of Thunsheer, 2096   While informative, the seminar only leaves me with more questions, ones that I feel hesitant to make known. There is a great many politics that are unknown and uninteresting to me in this great city, and I know not how my visions will be accepted or used. I leave that to my dear Sylren, and still I study.

Date: 22nd of Sydenstar, 2116   I have witnessed a vision of unparalleled horror: the collapse of the Weave and the ensuing chaos that engulfs our world. The fabric of reality tears asunder, unleashing untold devastation upon all who dwell upon Airth. What cataclysmic event could trigger such a catastrophic fate? I must delve deeper into my research, seeking answers to questions that may hold the key to our survival.

Date: 8th of Duscar, 2159   There is a delightful halfling man that has been studying alongside me, a bard named Tavrin. It's lead to some stirring conversation and debate on magical theory. He is part of an adventuring group called the Arbiters, who could use some extra magic on their side. And, I confess that I do miss my younger adventuring days. Sylren and I have decided that it seems safe enough, with a cleric among them, to occasionally make some extra gold and explore with them. I hope to find more sources of information in the times I join them on these journeys.

Date: 2nd of Unndilar, 2195   I have now read through every book the House of Knowledge has to offer on the subjects of the Weave and any time-based magic. I still am left with so many questions. Is it possible to repeat the same wild magic surge? Am I able to go back to that same place, the same chaos, and investigate when it is? How else am I to know what will happen, or when?

Date: 6th of Cuersaar, 2227   My dearest son was born today, little Aelarion. He is so small, so fragile, so full of joy. I am so pleased he graced our live, and yet I cannot help my wandering mind. However will I protect him from this terrible event?

Date: 21st of Duscar, 2296   As I stand on the precipice of time, I am filled with a sense of urgency unlike any I have ever known. It is over a year since my vision, and I have no more knowledge than which I began. The threads of fate weave a tapestry of infinite possibilities, and yet, I fear that our choices may lead us down a path of destruction. It falls upon us, the guardians of knowledge and wisdom, to safeguard the future of our world. Though the road ahead may be fraught with peril, I remain steadfast in my resolve to uncover the truth and preserve the legacy of those who came before us. Though I find myself at a standstill, unable to move forward with any further information.

Date: The 12th of Horisal, 2297   Tavrin called together the Arbiters once again, what is left of our party. It will be good to see everyone again, even though it is for a dangerous mission. Hyrsantryx, the ancient red dragon, has been decimating Odeirux. It has fallen upon us, the duty to rid the land of her terror. Though I don't look forward to the encounter, I eagerly await the opportunity to search the ruins of Seria for any clues to my vision of the future. Perhaps their sect of divination wizards have seen more than I have.
