Church of the Radiant

The Church of the Radiant, also known as the Order of the Mind, was a religious order dedicated to the worship of The Great Old One, the demon prince of undeath, founded during the late parts of the War of Nightmares.

Culture

Members of the Cult wore headdresses in honor of their deity. Their symbol was a 5 pointed star with an eye in the center.
Prior to his death at the hands of his subservient, Zhengyi, the Warlock-King was the leader of the Cult, and currently, the powerful and malevolent Barnthak is the highest-ranking priest. It is said that both leaders received a vision of The Great Old One and a message from beyond the Vortex.

History

The Cult had long been active across Akeroth, but came to prominence in the Years following the Banishment of the Illithid, 296 BBI, with the rise of Zhengyi the Warlock-King, the Cult's leader.  Members of the cult served as priests and trusted advisors in the Warlock-King's armies and aided in his conquests of Caburh by raising a vast army of undead. In one notable battle, a single priest —rumored to have been High Priest Barnthak himself—defeated a Trezenor raiding party by single-handedly raising enough undead to decimate the riders.
The citizens of Caburh banded together however and pushed the cult back and decimated vast quantities of its followers. After losing almost 90% of his army Barnthak chose to surrender and showed his will by decapitating Zhengyl in front of King Treznor. This was the end of what was known as The Battle of Lost Souls.
In 19 ABI, the War Of The Night erupted, signalling the death of King Treznor. The cult however remained dormant and some say even disbanded as no word was given from the Illithid as to the next steps. This however was not the case. Despite their weakened position, the Cult continued to serve as priests among the evil inhabitants of the once great city of Luyarhna. Their influence remained great, and they continued to recruit new cultists into their ranks despite the Illithid's banishment. This meant that they secretly remained a threat but after several years and the fall of the great city it can be determined that the cult has been completely exterminated and Barnthak is nowhere to be found.
