Mhorra - The Great Old One

Mhorra is a Paragon known as The Great Old One, he is the Child of Ius & Mordred. He currently lies in a death-like slumber beneath the Tranquil Sea under his sunken city of Azuris, now known as Atlaria. He remains a dominant presence in the eldritch dealings in Akeroth.

Physical Description

Body Features

The most detailed descriptions of Mhorra are based on drawings of the creature. One, constructed by an artist after a series of baleful dreams, is said to have "yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature [...] A dark head with tentacles surmounted a grotesque and scaly body." Another, recovered by the military from a raid on a murderous cult, "represented a monster of vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus-like head whose face was a mass of feelers, a scaly, rubbery-looking body, prodigious claws on his arms."

Special abilities

While not a God himself and is dwarfed in scale by the Gods that he serves, Mhorra is still a very powerful entity. Being near godlike to humans, Mhorra is immortal and has great strength and can endure great amounts of damage, and can only be killed by a near-omnipotent power. He possesses vast intelligence and awareness, as he knows all that is occurring in the universe at once and he has great psychic abilities as he can communicate telepathically. Arguably, Mhorra's most notable trait is the fact that he, alongside the rest of his kin, cannot be comprehended by humans; when a human so much as looks at Mhorra, they will almost certainly be driven mad by his visage. Mhorra was also able to create a city out of nowhere.

Personal history

Castro, a Mhorra cultist reports that the Great Old One is telepathic and "knew all that was occurring in the universe." They were able to communicate with the first Illithid by "moulding their dreams," thus establishing the Mhorra Cult, but after Azuris had sunk beneath the waves, "the deep waters, full of the one primal mystery through which not even thought can pass, had cut off the spectral intercourse."   Mhorra is mentioned in many sources, sometimes described in ways that appear to contradict information given in the most well-known accounts. For example, rather than including Mhorra among the Great Old Ones, a quotation from the Book of the Damned says of the Old Ones, "Great Mhorra is a God, not one spoken of." Human explorers in Akeroth discovered an ancient city, for example, where the Old Ones are described as a species of extra-terrestrials, also known as Elder Things, who were at war with Mhorra.   It is said that the Illithid are also creatures of extra-terrestrial origin being created in the image of Mhorra himself. No one knows where Mhorra came from but he settled in Akeroth and will reclaim the land for himself once his slumber is complete.
