Keiku

Keiku, also known as the City of Stone, is one of the eleven major regions in Akeroth and it's capital is the Great City of Moradin. Keiku has held vast significance in Akeroth, being claimed by the Dwarves as their stronghold. Keiku was built from the stone Arcanite, which has been re-purposed into the modern city-state. Keiku is infamous for playing home to all manner of race including Dwarves, Kobold, Halfling & Gnomes etc.   The region is located in the far east of Akeroth, on the edges of the Frosted Mountains of Erstone, west of the Birqus River. As a result, the region has a good natural defence, even from the skies. Being a long distance from any other major city and with both main roads cutting through mountains, valleys and rugged terrain, venturing to and from Keiku is one of the most treacherous trips for travellers.

Geography

Even with the inhospitable landscape, the dwarves have carved out a thriving civilization within the mountains. They are skilled craftsmen and engineers, using their expertise to construct elaborate underground cities and roadways.   Despite the bleak and unforgiving exterior of the mountains, there are also pockets of breath-taking beauty to be found. Nestled amongst the rocky cliffs are verdant grasslands, filled with wildflowers and lush vegetation. It is here that the dwarves graze their herds of mountain goats and sheep, taking advantage of the fertile land.   Several beautiful rivers flow through to the heart of Keiku, acting as their only source of water, they have been reworked to assist with the forging of weapons and tools in the underground cities.   It is notable that over time the region became more welcoming to outsiders and the dwarves helped build pathways to open trade routes with other areas of Akeroth.   Overall, the dwarven region of Keiku is a place of contrasts - rough and unforgiving on the outside, but filled with warmth and life within. It is a testament to the determination and resourcefulness of the dwarves, who have carved out a home for themselves in even the most inhospitable of environments.   Many Creatures are said to be located here, hunted mostly by Hexers the ones you can expect to see are;
  • Orcs
  • Trolls
  • Elementals
  • Chimera
  • Giant Vultures
  • Gorgons
  • Yetis

History

The history of the dwarven region of Keiku is a rich and complex one, filled with both cooperation and conflict.   For centuries, the dwarves and the giants have enjoyed a strong and mutually beneficial relationship. The dwarves are skilled craftsmen and engineers, and the giants have relied on their expertise to construct elaborate strongholds and fortifications within the mountains. In return, the giants have offered the dwarves protection from outside threats and have allowed them to graze their herds on the fertile grasslands.   However, not all of the relationships within the mountains have been so harmonious. The dwarves have long had a strained relationship with the elves, who view the dwarves as greedy and selfish. The dwarves, in turn, view the elves as haughty and arrogant. This tension has often led to clashes between the two groups, and there have been several instances of open warfare in the past.   Despite these conflicts, the dwarves of Keiku have managed to maintain a thriving civilization within the mountains. They are a proud and resilient people, and they have always managed to weather whatever challenges have come their way. Whether through cooperation or conflict, the dwarves of Keiku have always found a way to endure and prosper in their harsh mountain home.
