The Jade Sea Merchant Company (JSMC) is a very large corporation who's stated goal is facilitating and encouraging trade within the southern seas. They are headquarted in the Duchy of Parmo. Shares of the company can be either outrightly purchased, or you can opt to trade Parman government issued debentures for shares. This has caused the value of debentures to go through the roof. The government makes an annual payment of interest to the company which is then paid to the investors of the company as a dividend. The company is strongly advertised to anyone who is interested, it is advertised as an upcoming competitor to Halgostar Holdings. The more government debt someone surrenders can land them seats on things like the board of directors. Occasionally the company has forgiven government debt which the Parman government has in return, allowed for the issuing of more shares comprable to the total value of interest payments lost. The last time this occured, the JSMC issued ten thousand more gold worth of shares. The Parman government has an extensive debt that has been gained from half a century worth of war reparations owed. So the government continues to sell debt to the JSMC at a lower interest rate than private investors.

The issue arises due to the fact that investigators are unable to find records of any JSMC ships passing through ports. This suggests that the company is not actually making legitimate income in addition to the government debt assumption.
