The Wheat Kings

The Wheat Kings are the strangest political situation by far in Ethros. Formerly this territory was named Toulan and was nicknamed the "Kingdom of Wheat". But something happened nearly a thousand years ago, and it's somewhere where our historical records fail. We don't know what happened but it led to about a dozen warlords fighting against eachother in a formerly peaceful area. The people who live there are experts in warfare and have refined their methods into a streamlined system. Academic and verifiable information about this area trickles back slowly, and this means most of the information heard about the Wheat Kings is rumor. There have been dominant warlords who rule traditionally from Buzar, but the efficacy of their rule is questionable. Much of the countryside is desolate and dozens of burnt out or deserted villages can be seen along the roadside. The Banwan Marches serve to contain the violence to the east.

History

Historically, attempts have been made to reconcile the kingdom, to limited success. At the turn of the age, a concentrated effort was made by Sovos to unify the kingdom and they suceeded in getting two thirds to unify. That was until the king they supported was murdered by his son and the realm was plunged into chaos. The current ruler in Buzar is unknown.
"Use the name Einur Menthar while on the road. It may open doors to you that were previously closed." - Lord Luthen to his son, Tonfern in the Viemin sagas
