Albenis Cuisine

The food popular with the Albenis people tend to those made with lots of herbs, and little meat.   Fruits are common in this cooking in both sweet and savory dishes they are preserved throughout the year to be used. Vegetables are often used as well though only when they are in season. Because of this they rotate a lot form asparagus to zucchini. The rest of the food consists of pasta, potatoes, and bread. All made with lot of herbs and spices. One thing that sets them apart form other cultures food is that they did not use cheese.

History

The food of the Albenis has evolved a lot over the years. Originally most of the food made from these people was completely vegetarian. And around a few hundred years before the changing in eras that changed so that some meat was introduced into the diet. The other major change in the culinary habits of the Albenis is the shift from eating mostly food with breads, to adding potatoes and noddles to the dishes. Other then that it has mostly stayed the same.

Herbs - rosemary, thyme, garlic, basil, dill, oregano, sage, coriander, cardamom, mint, dandelion, ginger, nutmeg, peper

Nuts - almond, macadamia, chestnut, pistachio, pine nut, walnut, cashew, acorn

Grains - barley, wheat, rye, oat, quinoa, maize
