Tharizdun, the Chained Oblivion

God of Madness

Description

Tharizdun is the evil god of madness and nothingness. It revels in the destruction of worlds and famously created the Abyss. Its patronage may appear similar to Grummsh, the Ruiner, however where Grummsh and his followers seek to destroy for the joy found in the act of destruction, Tharizdun and its followers seek destruction for the purpose of unmaking the world. A few scattered cults of demented followers revere it, calling it the Chained God or the Elder Elemental Eye, though it is known that many have been tricked into serving it through false idols and other deceptions. Tharizdun doesn’t speak to its followers, so its commands are unknown, but its cults teach all members to follow The Chained God's desires.   Following its tenets, Tharizdun asks (or tricks) its followers into pursuing actions which would free it from its prison deep in the Abyss. Doing so would allow it to more actively enact the unmaking of Albion. It also pushes its followers to act as extensions of its will and create destruction and madness in its absence, while at the same time looking out for lost relics of since-destroyed cults, in the hope their efforts can be collaborated over time.

Tenets of The Chained Oblivion

  • Channel power to the Chained God, so it can break its chains.
  • Retrieve lost relics and shrines to the Chained God.
  • Pursue the obliteration of the world, in anticipation of the Chained God’s liberation.

History

The Prime Millenia

Of all the influence The Destroyer Gods had on Albion in its earliest days, Tharizdun's was by far the most terrible. It connected to individuals it could manipulate into following its tenets and began to slowly amass its first cults, who began to cut their way across the world with swathes of corrupt, black magic, the scars of which can still be seen today.

The Age of Ascension

It is said the power to create the infamous 'Sphere of Annhilation' comes from the Aspect of Tharizdun.   To Be Confirmed.

The Post-Aspect Era (The Era of Restoration)

Since the end of The Aspect Wars, very little has been heard about Tharizdun or his worshippers. Just as many people believe they were all wipes out during the previous age as believe they are amassing in secret. Whatever the true reason for their absence, Tharizdun has faded into obscurity and folklore with the common people, becoming a 'boogieman' figure used to scare small children. Despite this, this elder being is all too real, waiting for the day he is unleashed from the bottom of the Abyss.
