Biological Traits

The wings, bodies, and legs of Itsmy moths are covered with dustlike scales that the Itsmy then sheds if handled or startled. All Itsmy moths have antennae, though they may vary in thickness and fullness (The antenna of the Common Itsmy, for example, are long, feathery, and iridescent). When at rest, Itsmy moths either fold their wings tentlike over or wrap them around the body.

Growth Rate & Stages

As with all preternatural lepidortera, the life cycle of an Itsmy moth consists of four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), and adult (imago). The cocoon of the Itsmy moth is completely translucent and becomes camouflaged against whatever they rest on until adulthood, but become more visible as the caterpillar matures. At full maturation, the Itsmy grows to possess an approximately 12" wingspan and its wing panels fully solidify, hardening into an iridescent film.

The Itsmy moth is highly sought after for the magical components it may provide, most of which are especially potent and only active once the Itsmy in question has died. These components have also proven to be highly versatile and especially transmutative when paired with additional magical components.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

If you deny the truth you see or have surface or mid-level truths that you’re actively working to conceal, the Itsmy’s startle response is activated via pheromone tracer and the subject inhales the fine, preternaturally potent powder cast off by their wings. This powder compels the subject to tell the truth as long as it coats their skin — there is no strict time limit.
