University - Coursework
At a table sat two applicants of the university who sat opposite each other. There were a stack of books on either side of them. One of the young boys looking down at a book sniffs the air. Brandon: What is it this time, venison jerky?Redsmith Admissions test
Thomas: Give over it's a treat, you know I will go back to beef, next week.
Brandon: And if you don’t watch yourself you will have pork the next.
Thomas: I just don’t get why they test us on our craft twice. Just to get certified.
Brandon looks up at Thomas. Brandon: You could have been a very lucky Redsmith.
Brandon: You can’t blame the Masters, for checking, they would belt you out of Draurough, if you were faking it.
The admissions test for a Redsmith is to appraise a copper pot for flaws and suggest ways of improving its design.
Secondary Test
The secondary test exists to make sure that the applicant to the University, wasn’t cheating in their admissions test. It is also a way to benchmark the new applicant and to give them new lectures and classes if they pass the second test. The second test comes in the form series of coursework, these coursework assignments range from the history of the craft, the famous people of the craft and the basics. Now class, I have had a lot of members, giving in coursework, with one common error. This being, and repeat after me, one idea per sentence, one topic per paragraph. If the applicant passes the coursework for their craft, not only do they already keep their accommodations and meal privileges they also get:
- A greater access to the library (however they won't be able to access books listed as for masters, as these are based on skill level)
- Have access to materials and equipment so that they can produce items for the university or create prototypes or for study.
- Have access to the trade’s department which yields equipment that allows for practical exercises in the applied courses or to do the craft at all.
- others
Applied Coursework
When an applicant has successfully passed the second test they are allowed to take applied coursework. This type of coursework involves much more practical tasks along with theoretical exercises. For a redsmith these courses can be in a certain process or how to produce an item, that they don’t know how to make or don’t know how to get to the University’s standards, to be sold. These courses are voluntary, so the novice can complete the secondary test and just read books on their trade and not progress. The University will, however, prefer the novice to take these courses so that they can make money from higher-skilled products. Which would then benefit the novice. If the novice runs out of courses at his rank that is either an indication that the novice needs to change his attention to becoming an apprentice or to make items for the university’s marketplace, in the hope of becoming a rank higher.
