Sehanine

(a.k.a. The Lady of Night Skies, The Moonlit Mystery, The Daughter of Dreams)

One of eight elven queens who performed a ritual to ascend to godhood aeons ago. The ritual was sabotaged, causing the deaths of many of their devoted followers, but it succeeded in the end. She has close ties to Corellon and Melora and is a favorite deity among elves and halflings.
Sehanine is cloaked in secrets and illusions and rarely speaks her mind directly, preferring to communicate through a process of dreams, visions, and other mystic experiences.
Sehanine has a deep antipathy for Lolth that has existed since the latter was Hinaseen, one of sehanine's sisters, consort of Corellon, and the mastermind who nearly engineered the death of the Corellon's death. It is commonly believed that the Lady of the Night Skies always loved Corellon and has been his wife ever since Lolth betrayed him. Thus, she actively opposes the nefarious schemes of the Spider Queen and the other drow powers. Though not as vehemently as Lolth, Sehanine also opposes Asmodeus and Zehir.
As the most prominent of the sisters that represent the phases of the moon, most of the other goddesses of the moon share many aspects with Sehanine such as her mystic nature and beliefs. However, some of them, namely Ashennei and Naineshe, disagree with her harsh dislike for Lolth, who used to be their sister Hinaseen. Still others, such as Esanihen, think that Lolth has not been punished enough for her betrayals and side with Sehanine against her in hopes of bringing her to true justice.
