Goblins

"Goblin" is a general term for troublesome prankster Spirits that prefer to extract Ardor from humans by annoying them with household pranks and other trouble-making. They are some of the most commonly known spirits, as almost any human has had an unpleasant experience with a goblin by the time they turn ten.   Goblins generally travel in packs of three or four, though occasionally there are larger swarms that can cause enormous problems for entire apartment buildings, small towns, etc.

Getting rid of goblins

There are two ways to get rid of them. Goblins typically do not make pacts with humans for beneficial reasons, other than to solve problems they create. If one wishes to get rid of goblins, there are a number of tactics that can work.   The first thing to understand is that goblins largely see themselves as brave and cunning raiders that are attacking a far superior force. They don't feel bad about causing trouble, because they see humans and pact bound spirits as "living it up" and believe that they can afford to deal with damage or grief caused by the goblins' "raids". Goblins are also spirits, which makes them basically impervious to any physical harm, making it difficult to chase them out of your house with a broom or some such method.

Make a suitable offering

The first method to leave offerings to the goblins in between their raids. While they are recuperating from a raid, a homeowner might try to leave out food or objects for the goblins to take. Goblins are jealous creatures, and understanding what a particular group thinks a victim has that they do not is key to understanding what might make a tempting offering. If a raid often targets your kitchen or garden, preparing a decadent meal for the goblins is the right move. If they often attack jewelry or the like, leaving them something shiny may do the trick. If the goblin pack believes that the offering is valuable, they may accept it as a sort of pseudo-pact, and leave your home in peace. This method is one of the most common ways that people get rid of goblins, though it can be undesirable because it involves appeasing the little monsters that have been annoying you all day. It can also be unpleasant because the goblins can cause quite a bit of damage trying to rile up the homeowner, and often won't leave (giving time to prepare an offering) until they get a rise out of someone.

Make an embarrassing pact

Goblins enjoy causing frustration, and so will accept pacts offered that force the homeowner to humiliate themselves or do menial tasks. Since they are spirits, they are unable to break the terms of a pact without great harm to themselves, so demanding their departure from ones home in exchange is a completely reliable way to rid your home of goblins. However, this method is only effective for small groups of goblins, because they will often demand that each one get a turn to make a pact.

Hire a Pact Keeper

The most effective way to rid yourself of goblins without playing along in some capacity is to hire a pact keeper to chase them out. Often times, the pact keeper will also leave a ward or help a homeowner become familiar with a nearby spirit that may be able to serve as a guardian for the house.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Goblins typically appear as fist sized creatures with four arms and two legs. They will occasionally project wings and fly around making buzzing noises, but they also seem to have a great fondness for scuttling around on the floor, walls, and ceiling.
