Industry & Trade
A majority of the houses in Onira, especially in the medium to small communities are made out of brick. Fishoppy was built near a very large deposit of clay, the have developed their brick making skills and are now one of the largest brick exporters. In recent years some of the more artistic brickmakers discovered that if they mix the clay with a different recipe, the end ceramic will be really hard and durable. This has led a section of Fishoppy's industry to start making ceramic wares for use, like plates, cups, jugs, tiles and cooking pots. Some of the finer artists have refined the recipe so that they can make more delicate wares, these are marked to kings, queens, and other nobles.
History
Fishoppy started as a small settlement. A farmer who was disappointed that his crops failed for a third time in a row decided he needed a new way to live. He once heard a story about a village who dug a thick soil from the earth, if sent into a hot fire it would come out hard. He heard this village was made out of blocks of this fired earth. So he tried it and it worked. His family was able to grow enough food to feed themselves as he spent the next year perfecting his brick making techniques. Eventually, he had a thriving operation that involved the whole village. Over the years that tiny village grew into the city it is today. As the village grew it still had a food farming problem. The clay soil was just not ideal for growing enough food to feed everyone. This inspired the farmers to develop better farming technology and methods.
