Session 13: The Ancient Library

General Summary

George had promised to pay our heroes 200gp for killing the bandits. After killing them our heroes debated on what to do next, go to the swamp, back to Black Crystal, or track the zombies. They decided to head up to the swamp and then back to Black Crystal to collect their payment.   Our heroes find the swamp and stop at the edge. They reread the poem that Rorick collected and decided the way forward is to meditate under the swamp trees. While they were meditating Daeran collected some swamp water in a vile. They did and suddenly a dense fog filled the swamp, a tunnel of air also appeared and an elf at the end. The elf started walking away from our heroes, they followed. He gave our heroes two riddles which they were able to promptly answer. He lead them to a clearing of clear air with an ornate door behind him. He told our heroes that they would be allowed to borrow two books and let them into the library.   Our heroes spent their time looking through the many books that the library holds, each picking some to take with them.   Daeran - Complete History of Arethusa (Passed), Tricks of the Light (Passed), Tickingclock's Home Companion (Passed), 
  • Magic Tape- A spool of opaque fabric that's sticky on one side; you can rip off a piece to fix a break or tear in an object as per the Mending cantrip. Each time you use it requires a Dexterity check at DC 10 to get a piece unwound from the spool. On a roll of 1, you're out of tape.
  Rorick - The Fight Against Necromancy - Some spells and general necromancy lair information (Passed), 50 Shades of Fey (Failed), 
  • Coak of Undeath A simple black cloak with an emblem of a raven perched atop a skull on the back of it This cloak grants the user advantage on death saving throws and has resistance to necrotic damage and cannot be poisoned. However the wearer is treated as if they have the "undead" property. The cloak cannot be removed. If the user falls dead while wearing this cloak they take on the stats of a Zombie and are treated as such.
  Zanril - A Dead Man's Guide to the Underdark (Failed), The Arts Alchemical: A Primer (Passed)   Kaylin - The Arrows Way (Failed), Karen's Guide to Shooting (Failed), 
  •  Magnetic Boots these heavy iron boots emit a faint electrical field The wearer may walk as if they have spider-climb however all movement is halved.
  Solto - Barns and Nobles (Failed), Magic Items for the Crossbow User (Passed) 
  • Arrow of Displacement - An arrow tipped with a shard of quartz crystal. When it is fired, and the arrow strikes something, the archer is teleported to wherever the arrow landed. The quartz tip breaks after 3 uses and must be replaced. 
  • Ring of Teleportation 
  • Bag of Endless Rats - It looks like a Bag of Holding, but it stinks. All that comes out of it when a character tries to use it are 3d20 rats. If it is turned inside out or damaged, it disgorges 5d100 rats and the bag is destroyed. and pulls out 21 rats.
