Black Crystal
Black Crystal is a city located in the Kingdom of Evrand, it is currently inhabited mostly by humans but if one looks close enough it is obvious the humans were not the first to call this city their home. Many parts of the city, especially the oldest, have a variety of architecture styles. Some parts of the city have an expansive underground network.
Districts
- Bratant Park - A nice looking neighborhood that has a reputation for high class crimes.
- Merchant District - A diverse and busy district where merchants come to sell their goods.
- Military District - Home of the eternal guardians and other military related businesses.
- Shipping District - The district on the lake shore, all of the merchant vessels and goods are processed here.
- Red-Light District
- The Purple Village - The noble district in Black Crystal, heavily patrolled by the Eternal Guardians.
- West Gate - This is where the middle or working class residents live.
Food
Citizens of Black Crystal eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. The many farms in the Kingdom also provide a substantial amount of meat and other animal products. Fish is a delicacy and reserved for high-end establishment or special occasions. Gulli is a very populat drink in the city, all of the taverns have their own special recipe.People
Citizens of Black Crystal can be indifferent to strangers. They will generally speak openly if asked questions about their lives. Substantial rumors travel quickly within districts, it can take a bit of time for them to breach district boarders.Demographics
Black Crystal is a human city but has become mixing pot of different races and ethnicities. You can find ethnic enclave neighborhoods all over the city, everyone has a place that reminds them of home. The city is surprisingly well educated, there are still places that need work but the younger nobles have made an effort to clean up the sketchier neighborhoods.
Government
The Kingdom of Evrand is a monarchy and Black Crystal is in the seat of the government. Atticus Haro is the king, his city council includes a representative from each district and one from the major guilds. Although he is king, he does not have absolute power in the city. The city council passes laws and regulations by simple majority.
Defences
The main city is surrounded by a wall that is guarded by city guards. Each city gate is manned by city guards during the day and closed at night. In the Military District, all of the businesses there have contracts with the city to produce either weapons, armor, or other technology.
Tourism
Visitors tend to stay in the West Gate, it is not terribly expensive and relatively safe. Tourists like to explore the vast number of unique shops and services as well as the city's museums. Paragon Library also attracts its fair share of researchers and knowledge seekers.
Architecture
The buildings in black crystal are not larger than two or three levels high. They are made out of either wood or brick and some are covered in white stucco. The roofs are made out of red half circle tile.
Geography
Black Crystal is situated in the southern edge of the Kingdom of Evrand. The city is a coastal city, boarding Melidon Lake, giving it easy access to trade from the other kingdoms.
