Personal history
At a young age, his father always had a grudge against him; more specifically his being blind since birth. At first, his father never did anything bad to him in the first few years of his life. However, that slowly changed as he grew older. During Hector's elementary school years, his father would blame him for anything that went wrong in his life - i.e. the arguments his father had with his mother, his father losing his job, etc. Sometimes his father would hit him, even if he had no reason to. It got worse as the years went on as his father's gambling and drinking problems got worse. However, the last straw happened during his first year of middle school. One day, after school, Hector was walking home with his childhood friend as his mother was still at work and his sister was still at school, attending one of the school clubs she was a part of. Since his friend had to get home as soon as he got out of school, he left Hector in front of his family's apartment before heading home himself.
Instead of being faced with an empty apartment, believing his father was still at work or out drinking or gambling, he noticed there was a presence in the apartment. Hector's suspicion was correct when he heard his father's voice permeating throughout the place, clearly sounding as drunk as ever. He expected his father to beat him up or verbally abuse him once again as soon as he got closer like his father wanted him to. However, that didn't happen. Instead, his father had decided to sexually assault him. By the time his sister and mother came home, Hector was tied up, gagged, and sporting a few bruises - possibly from his father beating him as he tried to escape. After the initial shock, his mother went to grab him while his sister went for their father. As his mother called for the cops and paramedics, his sister was fending off their father until they came. Once the cops and paramedics arrived, the paramedics tended to Hector and possibly any wounds his sister sustained while their mother talked to one of the cops as the other cuffed their father and led him outside.

Due to his mother's affiliations, Hector grew up in the witch/warlock/wizard and magic communities along with his sister; mostly with the Coven of the Silver Grace. Although he wasn't going to be heavily involved with witchcraft and magic like his mother or sister, Hector decided to follow in their footsteps. Although, just the bare minimum. One of the first things he did was make a 'familiar pact' on his 13th birthday along with his sister. After his sister had done her 'familiar pact' ritual on their 13th birthday, Hector did one as well with some help. Once he was done, he made a pact with a dog. Every once in a while, his dog familiar would appear on his own to help him out. His dog familiar mostly appeared to help him in the right direction, just like a seeing-dog guide. Later on, when he was of age, Hector eventually made a pact with the Coven of the Silver Grace; mostly for extra protection as he goes in life. Since there are multiple covens throughout Alithia and different families - whether it's a whole family clan, a family branch of a clan (a father, a mother, child/children, and possibly grandchildren), or a single member of a clan - each clan in the witch/warlock/wizard communities have a crest of an animal. From there, each clan member carries the crest in some variation - i.e a charm, a tattoo, a pendant, and so on. When a clan member carries the crest in a variation like a pendant, the crest is presented with a color that corresponds with the coven they are associated with. For example, Hector's crest is a pearl-pink raven. The 'raven' is for the Coven of the Silver Grace, whereas the color 'pearl-pink' is for the Cottonvale Clan.
