Halgar Hammerfist

Halgar Hammerfist was not a king. He wasn't a chieftain, a lord, or a man of great fame during his lifetime. Nevertheless, his is a name emblazoned in the history of the folk of Svalbard.

Halgar was truly little more than an explorer from a common background, but durng a time of great travail among the people of his tribe, he became a leader by necessity. He led the way into the broad lowlands of the Wyvern Basin and established the first permanent settlement, now long since abandoned. He formed a new clan, the Halgrimr, and they went on to give their culture his name: the Halgarings.
